Windows 7 Offline Privacy Statement for the Microsoft Error Reporting Service
For the most up-to-date privacy information, see the online Windows 7 Privacy Statement at:
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=104288
WHAT THIS FEATURE DOES
The Microsoft Error Reporting Service helps Microsoft and Microsoft partners diagnose problems in the software you use and provide solutions. Not all problems have solutions, but when solutions are available, they are offered as steps to solve a problem you've reported or as updates to install. To help prevent problems and make software more reliable, some solutions are also included in service packs and future versions of the software.
The Microsoft Error Reporting Service also provides Setup Repair, an error reporting service that may run during Windows setup if a problem occurs.
INFORMATION COLLECTED, PROCESSED, OR TRANSMITTED
Many Microsoft software programs, including Windows 7, are designed to work with the reporting service. If a problem occurs in one of these software programs, you might be asked if you want to report it. If you host virtual machines using a Windows operating system, reports generated by the Windows operating system for the Microsoft Error Reporting Service might include information about virtual machines.
The reporting service collects information that is useful for diagnosing and solving the problem that has occurred, such as:
* Where the problem happened in the software or hardware
* The type or severity of the problem
* Files that help describe the problem
* Basic software and hardware information
* Possible software performance and compatibility problems
These reports might unintentionally contain personal information. For example, a report that contains a snapshot of computer memory might include your name, part of a document you were working on, or data that you recently submitted to a website. If a report is likely to contain this type of information, Windows will ask if you want to send this information, even if you have enabled automatic reporting through the "Recommended settings" option in setup, or Control Panel. This gives you the opportunity to review the report before sending it to Microsoft. Reports including files and data might be stored on your computer until you have an opportunity to review and send them, or after they have been sent.
If an error report contains personal information, Microsoft does not use the information to identify you or contact you. In addition, if you enable automatic reporting through the "Recommended settings" option in setup, or in Control Panel, the reporting service will send basic information about where problems occur automatically, but these reports will not have the detail described above.
After you send a report, the reporting service might ask you for more information about the error you experienced. If you choose to provide your phone number or e-mail address in this information, your error report will be personally identifiable. Microsoft might contact you to request additional information to help solve the problem you reported.
The Microsoft Error Reporting Service generates a globally unique identifier (GUID) that is stored on your computer and sent with error reports to uniquely identify your computer. The GUID is a randomly generated number; it does not contain any personal information and is not used to identify you. We use the GUID to distinguish how widespread the feedback we receive is and how to prioritize it. For example, the GUID allows Microsoft to distinguish between one customer experiencing a problem one hundred times and one hundred customers experiencing the same problem once.
USE OF INFORMATION
Microsoft uses information about errors and problems to improve Microsoft products and services as well as third-party software and hardware designed for use with these products and services. Microsoft employees, contractors, vendors, and partners might be provided access to information collected by the reporting services. However, they will use the information only to repair or improve Microsoft products and services and third-party software and hardware designed for use with Microsoft products and services.
Microsoft might share aggregate information about errors and problems. Microsoft uses aggregate information for statistical analysis. Aggregate information does not contain specific information from individual reports, nor does it include any personal or confidential information that might have been collected from a report.
Except as described in this statement, personal information you provide will not be transferred to third parties without your consent. We occasionally hire other companies to provide limited services on our behalf, such as performing statistical analysis. We will only provide those companies the personal information they need to deliver the service, and they are prohibited from using that information for any other purpose.
Microsoft may access or disclose information about you, including the content of your communications, in order to: (a) comply with the law or respond to lawful requests or legal process; (b) protect the rights or property of Microsoft or our customers, including the enforcement of our agreements or policies governing your use of the software; or (c) act on a good faith belief that such access or disclosure is necessary to protect the personal safety of Microsoft employees, customers, or the public.
Information collected by or sent to Microsoft by Windows 7 may be stored and processed in the United States or any other country in which Microsoft or its affiliates, subsidiaries, or service providers maintain facilities. Microsoft abides by the safe harbor framework as set forth by the U.S. Department of Commerce regarding the collection, use, and retention of data from the European Union.
CHOICE AND CONTROL
If you choose the recommended settings during Windows 7 setup, basic information about errors will be sent automatically to Microsoft. If a more detailed error report is required, you will be prompted to review it before it is sent. You can change this setting at any time by going to Action Center in Control Panel.
SECURITY PRACTICES
Microsoft is committed to helping protect the security of your information. We use a variety of security technologies and procedures to help protect your information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. For example, we store the information you provide on computer systems with limited access, which are located in controlled facilities.

Normal 0 Could have a corrupt driver.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

My parents have the Canon MP830 printer. All the ink cartridges are in correctly but I cannot get it to print yellow & blue. I did a test print & cleaned the nozzle then did another test print...

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent inkdrying out in the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer thanreplace the print head.

I have a Canon Pixma MP270 and I can only print in colour both the black and colour lights are lit up on the printer

f print quality does not improve by the standard cleaning of the Print Head, clean the Print Head deeply. Cleaning the Print Head deeply consumes more ink than the standard cleaning of the Print Head, so clean the Print Head deeply only when necessary.
1. Make sure that the power is turned on.

2. Clean the Print Head deeply. (1) Press the g0022565.png (Maintenance) button repeatedly until y appears. g0054776.png
(2) Press the Black or Color button.
The machine starts cleaning the Print Head deeply. Do not perform any other operations until the machine completes the deep cleaning of the Print Head. This takes about 2 minutes.

3. Check the print head condition.

When the deep cleaning is completed, the LED returns to the copy standby mode. To check the print head condition, print the nozzle check pattern.

See " Printing the Nozzle Check Pattern".

If the problem is not resolved, turn off the power and clean the Print Head deeply again after 24 hours.
If the problem is still not resolved, replace the FINE Cartridge with a new one.

See " Replacing FINE Cartridges".
If the problem is still not resolved after replacing the FINE Cartridge, contact the service center.

Printing the Nozzle Check Pattern
Print the nozzle check pattern to determine whether the ink ejects properly from the print head nozzles.

NOTE If the remaining ink level is low, the nozzle check pattern will not be printed correctly. Replace the FINE Cartridge whose ink is low.
See " Replacing FINE Cartridges".

You need to prepare: a sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper

1. Make sure that the power is turned on.

2. Load a sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper in the Rear Tray.

3. Open the Paper Output Tray gently, and open the Output Tray Extension.

4. Print the nozzle check pattern.

(1) Press the g0020617.png (Maintenance) button repeatedly until A appears. g0054754.png
(2) Press the Black or Color button.

The nozzle check pattern will be printed.

5. Examine the nozzle check pattern.
See Examining the Nozzle Check Pattern.

Examining the Nozzle Check Pattern

Examine the nozzle check pattern, and clean the Print Head if necessary.

1. Check if there are missing lines in the pattern (1) or horizontal white streaks in the pattern (2). g0054755.png (1) Check if lines are missing in this pattern. If yes, the cleaning is required.
See " Cleaning the Print Head".

Canon PIXMA 830 will not print from big black ink cartridge. This is normal printing on regular paper. I took out the printhead and soaked it in rubbing alcohol and also used a Qtip to clean the whole...

http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mp_series/pixma_mp830#ServiceAndSupport
The above is for a Pixma MP830, I'm guessing that this is what you meant by the 830 model.

Issue: Black ink does not print
Solution: The Print Head may need replacing - MP830

Replacing the print head The print head may need replacing if, after all print head and ink tank troubleshooting has been performed:
  • The nozzle test appears broken or to have horizontal white streaks.
  • One or more of the colors is missing from the Nozzle Test.
  • The colors are incorrect on the Nozzle Test.
  • A print head error is indicated on the unit.
  • The printer powers off when the print head is installed.

If your printer is still under warranty:

    * Please be aware that a print head may not correct the issue and the part is not returnable.

My mp830 will not print black only color

I had the same problem. I went through all the troubleshooting of cleaning the printhead several times. The Nozzle check (found under Printing Preferences/Maintenance tab) kept coming out without the PGBK section (Black) printed on it. All the colors printed. If your see any of the colors missing, it is probably the same problem---it needs the Print Head replaced.
Part # QY6-0061-010. I was able to find it at Canyon Computer Supplies in Phoenix, but you can also order them via the internet from multiple outlets. Mine cost $59.57 with tax...much cheaper than a new printer. The replacement is very easy...Canon has info on how to do it at http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=123&modelid=12804#SupportDetailAct ...if the link doesn't get you right there, search MP830, Support & Service, then search print head & you should find it. Once you remove all the print cartriges (printer ON), the gray lever on the left side lifts up and releases the print head...which is the unit that houses all the print cartridges. I just put the new print head in, replaced all the ink cartridges, did a nozzle check...and it worked!! I love fixing things myself.

Canon MP830 printing with interlacing shades of black

your printer cartridge or head unit ink channel (some of color or black ink channel) constipated, you may try:
1) if your ink cartridge is not new, take out the cartridge put the bottom surface touch cleaner liquid(special for ink printer) or water for 1 hr (you can see ink spread water), then set back and test. refill enough ink maybe necessary.
2) still trouble, you need clean print head ink channel to do same thing above, if your print head is separated from the cartridge.

Canon pixma mp780

Try uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers.

Is the error light flashing?

From the printer utility can you print a nozzle check sheet or align the printhead?

Does it seem to be printing (feeding sheet and moving printhead) or nothing happening at all?

Try removing all the tanks, take out the head. If blocked try cleaning manualy by running warm water over the ink ports/printhead jets - dry off and reinstall.
