LAWNMOWER STRING WONT PULL

Unplug the spark plug.
Try to turn the blade by hand, be sure to use a heavy glove to protect your hand from the sharp edge.
If the blade turns, then move it back and forth to free it up.
If it won't turn, take the spark plug out and try to turn the blade .
If it won't turn, you may need the engine overhauled.
If it will turn, put a level teaspoon of light oil in the spark plug hole, and turn the blade a few times.
Now try the pull rope.
If it works, put a level teaspoon of fresh gasoline in the spark plug hole and install the spark plug.
It should start
Be blessed.

No adjustments. Automatic governor. Replace spark plug. Ensure blade is sharp and oil is full. 30w oil. Always put Stabile in gas. When you remove spark plug pull rope several times to blowout cylinder. Spray a little WD40 in spark plug hole, then pull rope several times. Spray starting fluid in spark plug hole, replace plug, ensure plug wire snaps on tight. Clean replace air filter.

take the top cover off the engine. you will see the coil on top there. unplug the wire that plugs into it. put the cover back on and try to start it. if it starts it is not the coil. try a different spark plug first. pull the cord with the plug out to get all the gas out of the engine.

Toro Electric Start Problem

Remove spark plug and observe condition. Fouled with oil, bad motor. With plug removed pull rope several times to blow out cylinder. Spray WD40 in spark plug hole, pull rope several times see if oil blows out. Spray a lot of starter fluid in spark plug hole, replace plug. Spray starter fluid in air cleaner area of carb, try to start. Replace spark plug, try to start. Ensure oil is full, all mowers have a low oil sensor now. 30w oil. Always use Stabile in gas.

Gcv160 runs rough

Automatic governor speed control, no adjustment. Remove & clean spark plug. Remove air cleaner, replace filter if dirty. Check oil level. Remove float bowl from bottom of carb. ensure float hangs freely and gas flows. Push up on float, gas should stop. Remove pin holding float in mount, remove float and meter needle. Clean meter needle passage with small wire. Replace float and meter needle as require. Observe float bowl screw, see if a hole is present thru screw near head, clean with wire. Reassemble. prime, pull rope 4 times 1/2 way. Pull rope up to 10 times to start. ensure fresh gas. Always use Stabile in gas. Spray outside of carb with carb cleaner to ensure choke is free to operate where cable is attached.

Stuck pull cord on Toro 6.5 self-propelled mower

1) Common problem when a mower sits for several weeks at a time between mowing;
check for extra grass debris to be glogged between the blade and the mower shell.

2) If the mower has a 'bail' or 'zone' control handle;
this releases a brake mechanism on the flywheel to allow it to rotate, and after it is running, releasing the lever will 'kill' the engine.

NOTE* when transporting a push mower in the trunk of a car, try to keep the mower as level as possible.

*extra note when mower has been transported in the back of a car;
sometimes the mower is placed in a trunk at such a severe angle that the oil from the crankcase is forced around the rings and sits on top of the piston so that when you try to pull the rope you have a 'hydra' lock. (that is when a liquid is between the piston and the spark plug) You cannot compress a liquid, so the rope appears stuck.

If this happens, remove the spark plug (make sure the loose plug wire is fastened away from any combustable that comes out of the spark plug hole *** AND THERE WILL BE A HUGE STREAM OF OIL AND GASOLINE, SO BE PREPARED TO CLEAN UP A MESS ***
pull as normal until fluid is dispelled from internal engine
clean or replace the spark plug
a few more pulls (no choke required) and you are up and going
