My ibookG4 says "you need to restart your computer..." different languages and that's all it will do after the chime.

Restart holding down: command option O and F. Keep holding down those 4 keys until you see text on a light background. At the end of the text will be 'release keys to continue'. Release the 4 keys and type: reset-nvram hit return, then type: set-defaults hit return, then type: reset-all and hit return. The iBookG4 should restart with all default settings restored.

A normal restart only requires you to press the re-start button on the back of the CPU or on the front. You should hear the chime, the screen will come up and you will be taken to the Mac start-up screen (different OS will have different looking screens).
If the Imac has shut down suddenly or prematurely, you might not hear the chime but will see a grey screen with a status bar. Eventually you will see the normal Mac screen and your icons will slowly reappear.
If you do not get any start-up screen or any chime, unplug the unit, remove all peripherals ( such as USB cables etc) and leave it sit overnight. I have restored "dead" Macs by that simple technique.
If you see a screen but the Imac still won't boot, insert the restore disc, hold down the "C" key and restart from the disk. Or use disk warrior and start the same way. Disk Warrior will diagnose and repair problems with your OS.
If none of these strategies work, you may have internal component problems with your Imac that will require more expert repairs.

In the Language selection section you can chose your desired language from the drop-down menu. The

selected language will then be used for the entire AVG AntiVirus 2014 user interface. The drop-down menu

only offers those languages you have previously selected to be installed during the installation process plus

English (English is always installed automatically, by default). To finish switching your AVG AntiVirus 2014 to

another language you have to restart the application. Please follow these steps:

In the drop-down menu, select the desired language of the application

Confirm your selection by pressing the Apply button (right-hand bottom corner of the dialog)

Press the OK button confirm

A new dialog pops-up informing you that in order to change the language of the application, you need
to restart your AVG AntiVirus 2014

Press the Restart AVG now button to agree with the program restart, and wait a second for the
language change to take effect:

this machine is no longer supported by adobe, as the power pc architecture was abandoned several years ago. Look on sites that specialize in old software.

Try SMC and PRAM reset. To do this you need to google the model number and the reset instructions. If that does not work you need to reinstall the OSX

Sorry, Allen, but "off section of starter button" and "red & green lights of starter/off toggle switch" is all just foreign language to me. Cadillacs? Not a clue. My advice is google cadillac and find a forum of cad owners, who should be willing to help. Maybe, someone else here knows, though. Good luck.

Reboot is the term for shutting your laptop off and restarting it. as apposed to leaving your laptop running or in standby at all times.
The easiest way to restart is go to the Apple Menu in the top left corner and selecting Restart. You will be asked if you really want to restart.

The other way is to push the power button once and it will bring up the window asking if you want to shut down or restart.

I have a different computer now

Go to the Start Menu (you can press the Windows icon on the keyboard to bring it up) and then go to the Control Panel (Icon is a clip-board with a piece of paper with a check mark and a pencil). The "Regional and Language Options" has a icon that looks like a globe (in a stand). Go to the "Advanced" tab which is the last tab and use to pull down menu and try to find the English (there are many types of English so you have a decent chance of changing the language to English and then the English for your country).

Please note that you will need the installation disk for windows and to restart the computer to change the language.
