You first have to go to menu and set up external or variable audio on and make sure audio jacks are located in right place.

RCA model rtd3266

Quick and dirty:

From the back of the RCA unit make sure you are using the auxiliary input jacks to connect to the output jacks on the TV.

You will need to go into the setup menu on your TV to select an external sound system and finally you'll need to select auxiliary on the RCA unit to hear the sound from your TV.

Hope this helps,

The Tinker

How do i hook up a rca Rtd325w dvd home theater to a coby tft lcd flatscreen

You can use either the multi pin connector cable, or plug the white, yellow and red cables to the TV set at the DVD player input or "Video 1" and the the audio output of the TV Another red and white set of RCA cables into the audio input of the home theater. This way the TV can play through the home theater system when you are watching cable or over the air.

If you do not want to hear the TV audio, you should go to the audio properties and select "external speaker system" but if you do this the home theater system must be on to hear any audio from the set until you set it back to the TV speakers through the TV's setup menus again.

Trying to connect a sony home theatre system so that the akai television plays through the home teatre speakers. I used an hdmi cable, but the tv still only plays threough the tv.

The HDMI jacks on the TV are HDMI in. Thus to get the theater system to play the sound, you use the HDMI out from your set top box to the HDMI in of the Sony theater system and then the HDMI out of the theater system to the TV. (Connecting the HDMI in of the TV to the HDMI in of the home theater system will not work.)

If you are watching OTA TV or a direct coax cable connection, you need to hook up the TV audio out to the home theater system audio in to use these speakers with the TV. Then you probably need to set the TV to use the external speakers. This will probably be in the Menu under Audio. (Toggle external speakers on/off)

The Akai LCT2785TA has RCA audio out (1/4" red and white jacks). If your home theater system has RCA audio in, just get a patch cable (MM ends on each side of the cable). If your home theater system only has digital audio inputs, you will need a converter. is a link to one appropriate converter.

I hope this helps.

Can not figure out how to hook the rca system to the tv and satellite receiver,he either gets a picture or sound, can't get both. the user manual we had is very worn and can not be read anymore. can...

The all time best way to hook up the system would be, depending on TV's input output connections, would be hook the satellite receiver directly to TV input, best being HDMI, second being component video(in this case you would use separate audio cable(s), either digital optical, or RCA. Then provide audio out from TV to reciever using digital optical or RCA. You can try to pass video through the reciever however, it is not your best route and you may get a lag between video and audio. Make and model numbers would help in this situation.

I hooked it up the way the manual said and it doesnt work

Try whatever applies best below, in order...

Cable Box optical Digital Audio to Digital Audio In. (This brings TV-related multi-channel and normal audio into the receiver so you can hear it over the speakers. Turn TV volume OFF.

The cable box probably has a pair of stereo Audio Out RCA jacks. Run those directly to the TV so you can watch and hear cable programming over the TV's speakers without having to turn the system on. Turn TV volume UP.

Depending on your TV's Video In capabilities, use the Cable Box HDMI, Component (Red, Blue and Green), or Composite Video (single Yellow associated with the Audio Out) directly attached to the TV.

I have a 42 inch sanyo tv I am trying to hook up saround sound or just extra speakers

Extra speakers without having the external speaker jacks in the rear is definitely a NO NO. The surround sound is used by connecting the RCA jacks from the TV that say Audio Out to the surround sound audio input on the receiver.. The RCA cables are cheap, you can get them at Home Depot ect....

Can't figure out how to hook up tv surround using rca cabels

On your jack panel in the rear of the set you should have a location saying Audio Out. They will be Red and White. Plug your RCA cable into those, then plug the other end into your surround sound system under Aux Input, some say TV input. Then switch your stereo to that particular mode and your all done.

Compatibility fo TV and Sound system

TV has audio outputs, the RCA cable type. If you connect the audio output (red, white) from the TV(look on the back), and connect the RCA cable to Input of home theater system, you should get TV sound from home theater system. You may have to set the audio on the TV for external source. Go to menu, to audio setup, to options. On the Home Theater system, you may have to select the audio source, i.e. audio input 1, etc.

I have a cable box...(hddvr) and a TV cable set it up on video 2 now i bought a insigna home sound, how do i hook it up the user guide only shows me how to hook it directly to TV and its not working, so...

First, if you have the jacks in back of your TV for audio out, you may have to set the audio on the TV for external audio. Go to menu and then click on audio or audio options, and see if there is a mode for external or aux audio out.If that does not work, then use cables with the RCA ends and hook up from cable box to audio in or aux in of your surround sound system. Look at the back of the cable box for audio out or aux audio output and connect these two jacks to the audio in or aux input of your surround system.
If the cable box does not have extra audio out, you can take Y connectors and branch off the two jacks that are going to your TV. Radio Shack has these Y connectors. They allow two cables to be connected to one jack.
Hope this helps, if so Please rate, and Good Luck!
