I successfully replaced broken Sony Cybershot LCD screen myself. I purchased replacement screen on e-bay for less than $30, including shipping. Then I found a recording on how to replaced this screen on Youtube. In addition I recorded replacement with a camcorder to make sure that I put all parts back where they suppose to be. It was more than a year ago, and my camera works beautifully still.
This is a problem that occurs often in all of the Sony Cybershot cameras. To fix this problem, hit the "Sony" logo on the front of the camera with one of your knuckles. I know it sounds abusive, but it works everytime! and with every Sony camera:)
Best of luck,
I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS ACTUALLY WORKED!!! At first, when I tapped the Sony Logo, the camera shut off. But then, suddenly the screen turned on and I realized that it was stuck in the time section of the menu. That's why I couldn't take pictures!
WOW!! Thank you for the incredible cost-saving solution! I was about to plunk down $120 for a repair!
