Aqua Vac Tiger Shark Logo

Power supply I have a tiger shark that suddenly quit working. I thought it might be the power supply so I tested it with a voltmeter and it seemed ok. So I ended up taking the whole motor apart. When it was plugged in, the motor would spin intermittently (spin for a second, then stop). I assumed it was a bad motor so I bought a new motor and installed it yesterday. I still doesn't work. I'm guessing it has to be either the power supply or the power cord. Is there anyway to tell? I really don't want to have to buy both to tell. Or could I possibly have the power cord plugged into the motor backwards (polarity reversed)? Is this possible? Any advice would be appreciated. I'm frustrated to say the least!

SOURCE: My Tiger Shark is on

Get your dealer or the repair center to issue a call tag to get it back and fix it right this time. If they are a reputable repair center they will cover the return freight charge and re-diagnose the problem. It may need additional repairs than what was originally quoted and those may have an additional cost but they should at least cover the return freight to get it back to see what is wrong.

Was the store able to scan the motor to pull out operational info? Was it water tested prior to being returned to you? Perhaps the store will make accomodations to get it returned and repaired correctly?

My tiger shark pool cleaner will run for about 30 sec. then shut off. how can i fix this problem?

The pool cleaners impeller may be clogged or jammed with debris. Check and clean if necessary. The brush rollers or drive tracks could also be stuck. Check for debris and remove. It is most likely one of these problems if it is shutting off after only seconds of running. If these don't seem to be the problem, I would check your power source.

Not sure if power supply is good??

The supply fan won't run unless you turn the supply on. You can do this by shorting the PS_ON pin on the output connector to an adjacent ground pin. (This page has a nice diagram of the power supply connector.) And just because the fan starts turning, it doesn't mean the supply is good.

Measuring the output of the supply without a load can give misleading results. Especially with a digital voltmeter, outputs can look good but drop too low under load to run the computer. You can buy a power supply tester from several sources that you plug the supply into, but nothing beats an operational test in the system.

New power supplies are quite inexpensive. It might just be easier to buy one if you have any concerns that your current supply isn't working. You can also test the supply in another computer. If that one shows the same trouble as the one you pulled the supply from, you know the supply is responsible. Otherwise you know you have more troubleshooting to do in the rest of the system.

Hope this helps, and thanks for using Fixya!

HP L2000 Sudden shutdown wont power up power supply good

what makes you think the ac park is ok
19vdc measured with a voltmeter proves this , only.
a 2005 (as old as) Laptop
its not new, things this old do fail.
Laptops are like dog years.. 7:1. so yours is 84years old
to fix a desktop is super easy
to test a laptop takes greater skills, the take down. is tricky
we take out the battery,
the the pack just make the fan run in the PC
does it>? if not the pack is bad.
or the MOBO regs are shut down. (shorts on any thing inside
some times the 19vdc is ok, at that pack
then 1 inches inside the PC its dead due to that silly power jack loves to fail. but not taking the thing down and testing that
its all just a guessing game...
the only insight there is on electronics, is power first.
no power, no joy.
test the power feeds first.
