Tablets don't have function keys, because they are neither computers or laptops. Any functions that are available are displayed on screen. The additional keyboard for them as just to help for those that wish to type properly on a physical keyboard. RCA are very basic, entry level tablets.

How to replace the keybord on an advent 9517 laptop

Advent laptops are manufactured by DSG International, which owns the names to other name-brand computers such as Acer and Hewlett-Packard.
The Advent laptop keyboard has integrated mouse touch-pad functions that allow you to move the mouse around the screen with your fingers.
Function keys at the top of the board contain alternate ways to exit and enter software applications.

Function Keys
The Advent laptop keyboards function keys are "hot keys" that act as shortcuts to applications and functions on the computer. The function keys sometimes don't work and won't carry out the function assigned to the key. This problem is considered a hardware malfunction, and the solution is to replace the keyboard or use a universal serial bus (USB) keyboard for the laptop. b> Malfunctioning Keys b> Advent keyboards are made of thin plastic. Striking the keys too hard will cause the keys to break or stick awkwardly in the housing unit that supports the keyboard. When these keys get stuck in the housing unit, a pin tool can easily set the keys back on track. If there are too many keys that get stuck or broken, you can purchase a replacement Advent keyboard and have it installed. b> Mouse Problems b> The mouse is located at the bottom of the Advent keyboard but is connected to the keyboard data strip that sends information through the keyboard unit to move the mouse on the screen. If the mouse malfunctions, check the connector under the keyboard to see if it is loose. A loose connector can cause the mouse or other keys not to function on the laptop. b> Electrical Shortage b> An electrical shortage can cause an Advent keyboard not to work properly. A shortage is when the main board of the laptop is not getting the voltage needed to efficiently operate the computer. When this happens, certain devices underperform or become inoperable. Check to see if your power supply is extremely hot or if your system heats up around the keyboard. If so, replace the electrical adapter. b> Wire Damage From Keystrokes b> The wire that is responsible for the liquid crystal display (LCD) on the Advent laptop extends from under the middle of the keyboard to the LCD display unit. This wire is unprotected and can be damaged from striking the keys over the wire. When this happens, the display will not show the correct colors or the screen will go black. To eliminate this problem, purchase a keyboard cover that fits the keys to relieve the pressure between the keyboard and video cable. b> Keyboard Drivers b> Problems have been reported with upgrades from Windows Vista to Windows 7. Windows 7 will not recognize the system drivers that operate the Advent keyboard. To get the keyboard to work, you must load the old drivers in Windows 7 Safe mode, which is used anytime there is a hardware or software discrepancy. Advent keyboard drivers can be loaded from the original restore CD, which is included with the system at the time of purchase. Series/9517 (Black)/KBAD3

Brand new laptop received for christmas. Screen is now black lights are on the keyboard and the hp is lighted on front.. please help how do i get my screen on?

Do you get anything on the screen before it loads windows? Did you before? If so then try the following:

Look at the function keys for the symbol that toggles display from laptop display to external monitor. On my keyboard it is F5 but it could be different on yours. Hold the Function key down then press the correct function key , ie F5 on your keyboard. You may have accidently hit the keys or tabs on the screen if your laptop has that feature. (after youre booted into windows).

If you see nothing at all when you turn on the machine --

Look at the display from the side to see if there's any light behind it. If there isn't your backlight could be out.

Plug in an external monitor. Does it get a picture? If not it could be the video card or the ram. It could also be the video driver if you get no display after booting into windows but see the logo at bootup.

How do I see if cap loks ion on or off on screen

In order to get the cap locks to display on screen you need to install the manufacturer driver for the keyboard you have.

Lots of times windows will use a generic keyboard driver to get it working but for special functions etc on keyboard that is what you will need to do.

If you dont have the original manufacturer driver, you can normally download it from their site.

I need an explanation as to the secondary function of the keys on my NB305. Mainly the top row of 'F' keys, but the remainder of the keyboard as well. What do all these little symbols on the keys mean?

F1 through F12 are called function keys because they execute programmed functions when pressed. Used in combination with the Fn key, keys marked with icons execute specific functions on the computer. The function executed by individual keys depends on the software you are using.

1. Sound Mute: Pressing Fn + ESC in a windows environment turns sound on or off. Press Fn + Enter to simulate Enter or the enhanced keyboard's numeric keypad. 2. Instant security: Press Fn + F1 to blank the screen to prevent others from accessing your data. To restore the screen and original setting, press any key or press the Touch Pad. 3. Power save mode: Pressing Fn + F2 changes the power save mode. 4. Standby: When you press Fn + F3, the computer enters Standby. 5. Hibernation: When you press Fn + F4, the computer enters Hibernation. 6. Display selection: Press Fn + F5 to change the active display device. Hold down Fn and press F5 again to change the device. 7. Internal LCD screen Brightness: Pressing Fn + F6 decreases the display brightness in decrements. 8. Internal LCD screen Brightness: Pressing Fn + F7 increases the display brightness in increments. 9. Wireless setting: If your computer has both Bluetooth and Wireless LAN functions, you can press Fn + F8 to select which type of wireless communication you want to use. 10. Touch Pad: Pressing Fn + F9 in a windows environment enables or disables the Touch Pad function. 11. Press Fn + F10 or Fn + F11 to access the integrated keypad. When activated, the keys with gray markings on the bottom edge become numeric keypad keys (Fn + F11) or cursor control keys (Fn + F10). The power on default for both settings is off. Press Fn + F12 (ScrLock) to lock the cursor on a specific line. The power on default is off. 12. TOSHIBA Zooming Utility (reduce): To reduce the icon size on the desktop or the application window, press the 1 key while holding down the Fn key. (13. TOSHIBA Zooming Utility (enlarge): To enlarge the icon size on the desktop or the application window, press the 2 key while holding down the Fn key.

Hp 6735s was used last night and shut down properly but this morning turning it on the system continue booting without displaying anything on the screen which makes it blank / black........ Please I need...

If there is a display switch in the functions on the keyboard (most likely will look like a laptop monitor or a computer monitor on the keyboard). Press the function key and the button associated with that and wait 3 to 4 seconds (you may have to press it multiple times) If you have anything in the vga slot, then it may think a monitor is plugged in and won't display the laptop screen.
If none of the above work, then maybe your computer is having a systematic failure, or the screen connector is loose.
