The thermostat isn't shutting off the compressor at the correct temperature. Changing that thermostat is a big job.

Water valve for ice maker may be bad. there are two valves with one supply line, one valve controls the water dispenser and one for the ice maker. you can ohm out the solenoids, it'll ohm if its good and won't if its bad

Its faulty control panel, needs to be replaced.

There should be a plastice hinge cover on the left top hinge on freezer door. Take it off and press the plug together firmly. Try that and let me know, Sea Breeze

If your model number is the Profile/Artica PSS26 model the most likely reason for this is a burned out defrost heater. Look into back of the freezer and tell me if a layer of frost is building up on the rear wall of the freezer compartment. If yes then unplug and remove the rear panel in the back of the freezer to expose the evaporator coil. If frosted over then you need to defrost with a hair dryer or leave a bucket of hot water in the freezer compartment until the ice melts away. Sometimes the defrost drain is frozen over and then the beginning of the frost becomes heavy quickly and temperatures begin to increase in both sides of your side by side. Lately I seem to be here and ge no response from anyone. I want you to a the least let me know if you need my help to resolve this. Sometimes the main control board causes this but not as likely as the defrost thermostat and defrost heater. Sea Breeze

This is a problem with my GE side by side also. It only happens occassionally and there doesn't seem to be any fix. I've had GE repair service here more than once. It seems that the insulation in the door is insufficient to keep the water line from freezing up. Small wonder GE is part of this awful financial mess.

We suggest that you contact a qualified appliance repair technician for such repairs.

I suspect that the wire connection under the freezer door hinge is faulty. Try cycling the connector see if thet resolves anything. Ive had several do this and the connector had broken down. I repaired it with butt splices. It worked great. If the connector is ok it could be other thingd so let me know what you find.
