Question about Garden

Open Question

I just recently purchased a Cub GT3240 and brought it home. The mower was driven up on my trailer by the the then owner. After looking it over carefully I decided it was time to give it a try. Mower runs well but I have to run the engine full throttle to get the tractor to barely move. Also tractor will not move in reverse with the mower deck in the down position. Tractor moves at the same speed both forward and reverse, SLOW. Don't even know where to start troubleshooting. Any help will be appreciated.

Is it a hydrostatic tranmission? If so, sounds like the fluid might be old or not the right viscosity. Recommend changing the trans fluid, and use recommended viscosity of fluid.

In the back of the mower...probably under the seat, there should be a lever to release the transmission, or it is on the back plate. As far as the noise when trying to move drive the mower, the brake in the back, next to the transmission is jammed, use a 1/2 inch wrench to loosen it maybe 1/4 turn and this should unlock the brakes

SOURCE: lawn tractor won't stay running if clutch is released.

There is an operator presence switch under the seat...it is more than likely faulty and must be replaced in order for the mower to run right.

Looking for service manaul for cub cadet lt1040 mower

I don't know what you mean by "looking" Either A. you don't know where to find one. or...B. you want one for nothing. First off, that's quite a beast of a machine you got there. Very complicated with 2 service aspects to it. Below is a link for an owners manual. Its not service but still points out a lot of "little things". You can get a service manual at that site too. (they are Cub Cadet) As far as for nothing? I really don't think another owner who purchased his manual is just going to upload it
to you "on the humble". What for? Besides Good people and technical brains did a lot of drawings, referencing, and testing to bring you such a product. Support them with a legit purchase. I personally think a service manual should accompany everything you now "own" thru purchase. (Heh! either its yours now or it isn't! If its mine I want a manual, if it still belongs to the company then I really don't own it do I?) But thats my "personal" take on it. The real world is a bit more demanding, so give until it hurts!
