SOURCE: ge profile PDS20MFS clicking noise from board in back

The clicking sound you are hearing is coming from a relay on the board.Take the metal that covers the board off and you should be able to isolate where the noise is coming from. Changing the board out is an easy repair.

GE Profile - model PDS20SBSALSS - constant clicking noise

The clicking is the compressor trying to start. If the compressor is extremely hot, try allowing it to cool. The condenser fan should run even if the compressor is out on overload; that may be the cause of the compressor failure. Check the supply to the fan and replace it if it doesn't run.If the compressor has been overheating for some time, it may be damaged and also need replacing.

Clicking noise, doesn't get cold enough but is running. No ice on the coils

If the clicking noise is coming from the bottom of the frig then it could be the contactor-relay. If that is the case the compressor might not be activating like it should.

Freezer is making a loud noise. sounds like the motor. GSS201EMA

inside the compressor there are springs which prevent the motor from banging against the case. If one of them breaks the compressor will make quite a bit of noise, It doesn't affect function but is very annoying.

The maytag skybox doesn't get cold anymore. we had it outside for a while (we didn't realize you couldn't have it outside) & it worked great all last summer. this spring, we realized it...

First you need to find out if the compressor is kicking on or not. If it isn't then it could be the starting capacitor (item 23), start relay (item 7) or the compressor itself. Since you had it outside I would suspect the capacitor or relay.

Does the skybox make noise (like your refrigerator starting a cycle)? If not, I would unplug it for a short while and let it set. Then when you plug it back up listen for noises on whether the compressor kicks on or not. If it doesn't then you can check the cap and relay board. Or have your compressor checked for operation and freon.

I have a ''GE"heat &

Look at the wires that go to the compressor and make sure they are not burned off. Inspect the capacitor tops for swelling and loose or burnt wiring. Also check the connections coming from the controls. May have a wiring problem or even a bad compressor. How old is the unit?

GE bottom freezer began making a clicking noise, will not run

The clicking could be the start relay. If the start relay is bad, the compressor will not start and you will hear a clicking noise in 2-5 minute intervals. The clicking noise is the overload cutting the compressor off when it overheats from trying to start with a bad start relay. To find out if this is bad first unplug the refrigerator. Remove the lower cover from your refrigerator. Then take the cover off that is on the side of the compressor, you will see wires going to this. Now you should be able to see the start relay plugged on to the side of the compressor and unplug it. Now the best way to tell if it’s bad is to shake it. If it rattles, it’s bad and needs to be replaced. If not, most of the time it’s ok. But rather than saying the compressors bad, you might want to replace it anyways because it don’t cost much in most cases (less than $25). If you replace it and it doesn’t work then the compressor is bad and you’ll need you call a repairman. (Note that compressors are very costly and are normally not worth fixing). Clicking noise coming from my fridge, why?

Depending on model number and location of noise I believe with any refrigerator that clicking will come from compressor overload when the compressor tries to start. Certain GE Models that fall into the category of Profile/Artica have motherboards that make the same clicking sounds when they go bad. If coming from compressor then it tells me that the compressor is trying to start. If so and the clicking continues the compressor could be damaged. If you need someone to assist you in repair I will gladly assist you. Sea Breeze
