Capture perfect 3.1 default file name $new document$

Previous version kept the file name that had been manually entered so if error in scanning the name was already in the field. also, drop down showed previous titles instead of previous folder locations. Anyway to change

SOURCE: Scanner command invalid in current state

I have not used CapturePerfect 3.0. Hope the scanner is just fine. Try count only mode to check if it is okay.

Uninstall Captureperfect. Run chkdsk/scandisk to check if OS is ok. Reinstall Captureperfect again and it should work.

Please run Scandisk on your computer. If the problem persists even after this, reinstall OS. You need to reinstall other applications also.

Do you have enough disk space? Check if your C; drive has enough space. Normally C: is used as 'scratch area'. Try scanning intoa different location.

Check the location where you are directing the scanner/computer to store the scanned image. If it is full, obviously it cant store. Change the location where there is space.

SOURCE: cannot uninstall or install HP scanjet G2410

I tried all the "decent" uninstall solutions like running HP's Level 1-4 Uninstall batch files. HP's installation software still insisted that parts were already installed. Then, with the scanner connected, the installation software got into competition with Windows also trying to install the driver. The reinstallation was no good. Solution Center wouldn't even start, preposterously announcing that it couldn't find the scanner!

When you have a reliable clone of your c:\ drive you can try daring solutions. Such as this:
1. Search the c:\ drive for files and folder with "Hewlett" or "HP" in their names. Kill them all.
2. Search the registry for keys with "Hewlett" visible or buried. Kill them all.

After 1 & 2, reinstallation worked smoothly. And my computer still works! The only evidence of the violence is an undeletable file 3963d.rbf now in c:\Config.Msi. I will report back if serious computer problems arise.

The point is that manual uninstall is possible and none of the elements are in hidden places. Someone else can determine whether both file and key deletions are necessary and exactly which ones.

I hava a canon dr-2010c scanner. but when I scan the paper through capture touch 2.0 than scanning very fine but when I scan through capture perfect 3.0 than show black page scanning.


Normally it is advisable to use only one Scanning Software. The software has various files which may overwrite the previously installed version. The later version works good.

It is also possible that the brightness/contrast settings in Captureperfect 3 is not proper. Try scanning after altering these.

Sorry my scaner not working but printer will be working please tell me whats wrong


  1. The firewall must allow the following traffic.
    • TCP on ports 9400 and 9401
    • UDP on port 6000
  2. Make sure Scan Manager is configured for the correct IP address of the printer. If Scan Manager will not launch from SmartPanel and it does not show up in Control Panel, check <WindowsDirectory>\twain_32\Samsung. Without Scan Manager installed the printer will not be able to scan to PC.

To use Scan Manager you will need to have installed and configured the following items:

  • Installed the Print Driver, including the Smart Panel application
  • Installed the Scan Driver, including the Scan Manager application
  • Have an active connection between the Printer and PC

Important: If you don't have these items in place, stop now and perform the installation.


To scan to the PC using Scan Manager, follow these steps:

  1. Right click Smart Panel in the task bar, and then select Scan Manager. (Scan Manager Admin dialog appears)

causes for these problems are:



1. File is corrupt, bad, or missing.

2. File is not designed for your version of Windows.

3. File is a virus, worm, or other malware file.

4. Hardware incompatibility.

Step 1: Verify that the program installation CD is clean. If the CD is dirty or bad, you could get this error during the install and/or get this error after the program has been installed because it was not copied properly onto the computer.


Step 2: Make sure the program or file you're attempting to run does not contain the same name as the long file name directory it is contained in. For example, executing a file named "program" in the "program files" directory can cause errors.


Step 3: If you're trying to run a program that is not designed for your version of Windows you may get this error. Although many older programs designed to work in older versions of Windows will work with new versions of Windows, unfortunately, not all programs will work.

· If the program is an older MS-DOS program or early Windows program you may get this error.

· If the program is designed for a 64-bit version of Windows and you're running it in a 32-bit version of Windows, it will not work and generate this error.

Step 4: Run an online scan for any threat and try to fix them

Won't scan to PDF with Capture Perfect 2.0; Error


There are two versions 2.0 and 2.3. One of them converts to PDF without PAFCV2.dll load error. Try and down load from http://software.canon-europe.com/software/0022439.asp?model= Incase this doesnot work, you need the other version.
I generally dont do direct conversion to PDF. I clean the images, create multipage and then convert to PDF and hence don't know which version works. I have both versions. Incase the downloaded version does not work, pls send a mail to smohan54@yahoo.com I shall send you a copy.

By using the epson v500 photo I get the following massage: "Please remove the document mat and/or close the document cover" Off course I remove the mat and de document cover is close. I send the scanner to...


Possible driver issue. You have to reload the twain driver.
To uninstall the twain driver, please follow the ff instructions:
- Trash epson scan and epson scanner monitor from the harddrive
- Go to the library, then application support. Trash epson scanner module.
- Go to the library again, then image capture. Trash twain data sources.
- Go to the hd. Click on users. Click on the name of your computer. Click on library, then preferences, then epson. Trash epson scan.
Empty the trash and restart your mac.
When your mac is fully back on. Go to http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?oid=88368&prodoid=63070478&BV_UseBVCookie=yes&infoType=Downloads&platform=Macintosh&x=23&y=13 and you are now ready to install the Scanner Driver and EPSON Scan Utility v3.27.

I have a canon DR-9080c that gives me a PAFCV2.DLL load error


I have resolved this in the past and a new user just brought it up again.

The pafcv2.dll in Captureperfect 2 does not seem to work. If you install CapturePerfect 3 and copy the pafcv2.dll into captureperfect (c:\program files\canon electronics\captureperfect2 or whatever install path you used), you will find that you can now scan into PDF, even in batches!

Prerequisites:
  • The printer must be connected to the network.
  • The IP address of the printer is required.
  • The HTTP option must be enabled on the printer. To obtain the IP address or to confirm if the HTTP option is enabled, print a Configuration Report. See the Related Items below for additional information.
  • A user account for the scanner must be created (account needs full control access rights).
  • A directory to be used as a repository for the scanned files must be created. The directory must then be shared.
  • The Hostname of the workstation must be known.
Scan to File is set up in several steps:
  1. The first step is to make sure the scanning service is enabled on the printer.
  2. The second step is to set up the scan file repository.
  3. The third step is to create any necessary templates.
  4. The final step is to configure the template with the required settings.
NOTE: This solution assumes Microsoft Internet Explorer is being used as the web browser. Other web browsers may vary.
  1. Make sure the SMB port is enabled. Print a Configuration Report to verify this setting. See the Related Items below.
  2. Open an Internet browser window.
  3. Enter the IP address of the printer in the Address field, and then press [Enter] on the keyboard. The CentreWare Internet Services window will be displayed.
  4. If prompted, enter the username and password in the fields provided, and then click [OK].

    NOTE: The default username is "11111". The default password is "x-admin" and must be entered in lower case letters. If the username or password has been modified or forgotten, contact your System Administrator.

  5. Click on the [Properties] tab. The Properties options will be displayed.
  6. Click on the [+] next to Services on the left side of the window to expand the options.
  7. Click on the [+] next to Network Scanning.
  8. Click on [File Repository Setup]. The File Repository Setup window will be displayed.
  9. Click on [Edit] in the Default File Repository section. The File Destination screen will be displayed.

    NOTE: A maximum of five file repositories may be configured. Generally, just the default repository is configured for scan to file.

  10. Select [SMB] from the Protocol menu.
  11. Enter a descriptive name in the Friendly Name field.
  12. Enter the IP address or Hostname of the computer where scanning will be setup in the Hostname / IP Address & Port field.

    NOTE: The default SMB port is 139. Generally this port number does not change.

  13. Enter the Share name in the Share field.
  14. If necessary, enter the scan path in the Document Path field.
  15. Click on the [Prompt at User Interface] or [System] radio button from the Login Credentials to Access the Destination section.
  16. Enter the scan user name in the Login Name field.
  17. Enter the scan user password in the Password and Retype Password fields.
  18. Click on [Apply]. A “Settings have been changed” message will be displayed.
  19. Click on [Reboot Machine]. A "Do you want to reboot?" message will be displayed.
  20. Click [OK].
  21. Close the browser window.
  22. Test scan to file using the default template. See the Related Items below.
  23. If necessary, create scan templates.

The documents are scanned but dont appear on later inspection, or if they do they are just a horizontal line across the middle


Try reinstalling the driver software. If the problem still persists, run scandisk or reinstall OS.

When you see the File Save Settings window, you need to select the location, name, and format of the scanned image file you want to save.
  1. In the File Save Settings window, specify the file folder in which you want to save your scanned image. Click the My Documents or My Pictures radio button (Windows XP or earlier versions), or the Documents or Pictures radio button (Windows Vista or Mac OS X).
  2. If you want to select another folder, click Other, then click Browse (Windows) or Choose (Mac OS X) and select the folder. If you want to save your image on the desktop, simply click Other.
  3. Specify a file name prefix with an alphanumeric character string. A 3-digit number is automatically added to the file name, but you can change the Start Number if you like. If you are scanning multiple images at once, each image will receive a different 3-digit number.
  4. Select a file format. Depending on the format, the Options button may be available for making detailed settings.
  5. The check boxes at the bottom of the window give you these options:
  • Overwrite any files with the same name: Select this option if you want to reuse the selected file name and location and overwrite previous files with the same names.
  • Show this dialog box before next scan: Select this option if you want the File Save Settings window to appear automatically before you scan in Home or Professional Mode. If you deselect it, you must click the File Save Settings button to open the window.
  • Open image folder after scanning: Select this option if you want Windows Explorer or the Macintosh Finder to automatically open to the folder where your scanned image is saved when Epson Scan finishes scanning.
6. Do one of the following, depending on the currently selected scan mode:
  • Home or Professional Mode: Click OK. Epson Scan starts scanning.
  • Full Auto Mode: Click OK, click OK again, then click Scan. Epson Scan starts scanning.
The scanned image is saved in the file and location you chose.
