Dark screen It's really dark and I can't adjust any of the controls to make it lighter. It says "Autoadjust Locked" whatever that means.

Re: dark screen

Looks like we got disconnected during our chat session. I still think it may be those bulbs. If there was any kind of surge, it could have taken them out. I'm looking for specifics on the lamp though. If I find anything, I'll post it here.

AOC monitor says OSD locked

OSD means on-screen display. As you make adjustments, they are displayed on the screen. You may have to press the OSD button to unlock it.

My monitor has gotten really dark. How to fix?

Try another monitor on your computer. If the other monitor works fine, then you know the video card is good and the monitor is definitely bad.

If the monitor is the culprit then the only option is to replace it because that would mean the screen itself is going bad and there is no replacement screen for that monitor.

Monitor auto adjust problem

It sounds as though the autoadjust button (switch) has stuck. Try tapping it a few times (the button, that is!)

Samsung SyncMaster 720N ...

OK, I've figured it out! There's something wrong with the control chip, so if you don't have it under warranty, here's what you can do:
1. Turn off the monitor
2. Unscrew the face of the monitor
3. Remove the bottom part of the face from the backside, so you can see the chip
(the control chip is located on the face of the monitor, under the buttons)
4. You will see a small white connector about 5mm wide, UNPLUGG it
5. Put the small cable that you've unconnected under the front, so you can close the monitor back
6. Close the monitor and plug it back in

That's it. You won't be able to change your settings (they autoadjust anyway), but you won't have to throw the monitor away!

UltraSharp 19' Screen will not autoadjust.

Start in SAFE mode (press F8 wile booting) and choose Last Known Good to see if it works in Windows DEFAULT setting.

My guess is that MSoft pushed a patch or SP to your box and IT replaced the dll your monitor was using.

Goto and DL the correct drivers again

Good Luck!
Let me know what you discover ;-)

Let me know if this fixes it

OSD stands for On Screen Display. You get to it by pressing the Menu button on the front of your monitor.

Can't manually adjust color

I happen to have an Acer Monitor although a later model. It has 4 of these is the auto adjust and one other is the window that has manual controls (so to speak). If you look at it carefully...(and it should stay on the screen for at least a minute - they believe you will do something in that timeframe) will find a set of icons at the top. These are suppose to be visually intuitive (and they are after you have used them once or twice)....anyway, if you really want to set your colors manually and or make other adjustments....alignment et use the other buttons when the manual control screen is there. Experiment a bit and you will discover what does what. FYI...all "modern" monitors have this ability....the icons differ....but autoadjust does the best job in general....personal preferences and eyesight withstanding. Good luck....a small glass of wine sometimes helps the process and reduces the frustration level the first time around.

Compaq Monitor Model 7600

There are usually controls, button or knobs, to "Stretch" "Move" "Pincusion" and others... have you tried this, as this is what it "Sounds" like to me from ya description? If there are NO controls on the front to accomplish this task, at the REAR of the unit there should be controls marked to show the function. Below is a link where ya will find a Manual that may help ya.
