Question about Motorola Mobility V557 Cellular Phone
My display went out. I can dial with it but i can't see anything .
I had the same problem and suspected that it was the button malfunctioning. I could not use my address book, so I tore the phone apart. I discovered a burned copper thread on the circuit board behind the button. This is probably intentional on the part of Motorola... cheaping around for higher initial profit and then we just have to buy new phones. The circuit can't handle the screen for long period of time. Seems to be a design problem. I am just going to use the parts from the v559 to repair a charge port on my old v557 and switch the chip back.

Look at just below the screen and you will see a little stub sticking out. when you close the phone up, the stub pushes into a small hole, just above the rt soft key.
When it goes inside this hole, the screen shuts off. There is a problem in in this area. If you have your phone turned on, you can take a small object and push into this hole and your screen comes on. At lease mine did. Problem, once I closed the phone and open it back up, I had to push in the hole again to get a picture. I even sprayed dust remover but with no luck.. I may need to get a new phone.
