I don't see what kind and year of car you have, but understand they can dry out and may need to be "primed". You might also need to replace the fuel pump and filters, as they may also have dried out.
In the old days, a person could gently pressurize the gas tank to see if the gasoline would flow through the system, but today, that would probably not work due to the extra emissions and vapor lines.
If the fuel rail stays dry, it probably means the fuel is not reaching that point.
If you have a removable rubber fuel hose between the tank and the engine, you might try either a suction on the line to bring gas to you, or some air pressure on the line to blow it up to the front. You will need to be very gentle here.

GMC 2000 sierra pick up 1500 sounds like it wants to start but won't turn over. Battery sounds good so I guess battery and alternator are ok. For several years fuel gauge doesn't work and...

It sure could be. But, first...by "won't turn over" you do mean it cranks at normal speed but won't start?
A simple test of the fuel pump is to stand by tank and listen as someone turns key to on. When first turned to on, your pump will activate for 2 or 3 seconds, pressurizing the fuel system, and then shut off if the engine computer doesn't get a cranking signal. Do you hear it come on? If not, then something's not turning your pump on. If you can hear it buzz on briefly, then maybe it's your filter. Another test: Spray a little starting fluid into your intake manifold (remove the big hose going into intake manifold) while someone tries starting it.If it doesn't fire and try to stay running, then it's probably an ignition problem. But if it does fire off, then you know it's a fuel problem-likely your pump or filter. good luck.

190cc 675 sears push LM. Irene put it under water. Drained carb and crank. removed and cleaned filter. New gas. Won't start. Got a little pop with starter spray. No pop at all?

Did you drain fuel tank before refilling with fresh fuel? Drained carburator bowl good, drained crankcase and refilled with fresh oil good, removed air cleaner and dried out good. One question for you , did you remove spark plug and drain any water that may have gotten into your cylinder through an open valve? There could be water sloshing around in the cylinder, gas and water will not fire, and water on spark plug wont allow plug to spark. If you need any more help please get back to me , I believe this is the first under water problem I've encountered. GOOD LUCK.

95 ford thunderbird has been sitting for about 2 yrs. engine will turnover but will not crank. suggestions

i would be inclined to empty fuel tank and put fresh petrol in and then try it again ,try starting it with a ether spray in the air intake and see if it will fire up because once engine warms up a bit it will run on the old fuel so you drive to a garage and fill it up with some fresh fuel

Definetely sounds like frozen gas line, should put it in a garage or somewhere with heat and put in a gas line antifreeze to remove the moisture in the gas. Plugging it in will only warm the oil/intifreeze.

Someone put diesal in my gas truck

Man what a mess that is, hopefully you didn't start your truck up.
You need to have the tabk grained and flushed.
This is a dangerous repair to do yourself, best to have it towed to a garage and pay to have it done.

If you have to do it your self, be sure to have the battery on your truck disconnected to make sure nothing haopens to make a spark, and have a buddy on standby with a fire extingiher.

Please be careful if you try it your self

Lawn mower will not start

check gas tank with light is there dirt in tank? did you change fuel filter? is there spark at the spark plug? try a 2 second spurt of starting fluid in carburetor and crank does it fire?if it does then you most likely need to clean carburetor with carburetor cleaning spray, flush fuel lines with spray and swap fuel filter.

My 81 Honda gl 1100 was not winterized. Installed new battery. Cranking fine. Wants to start. Smell gas, probably flooded.

You should drain your gas, gas line, and carbs.
Try putting in some fresh gas and see if it wil fire up.
If not a carb rebuild is more than likely going to be needed.
