Question about Coleman Electric Cooler 40 Beverage Cooler

1 Answer

Coleman Electric Cooler

So I just got this from a friend who has been using it for years. The Cooler gets cool but not cold. I am worried that it doesn't get cold enough for the milk and eggs I put in it for camping. Was thinking of taking off cover and cleaning the dust. Will that help? Is there more I can do?

SOURCE: The 5640 Coleman cooler motor runs, but unit does not cool.

This is a thermoelectric (TE) cooler. There is no gas' to replace in it's cooling system. It is possible the thermoelectric coupler has gone bad. Unfortunately Coleman does not seem to offer a replacement part. If you Google thermoelectric couplers, maybe you can find something on the web. Good Luck.

SOURCE: Coleman 12-volt cooler stoped working/fan burned out

Sound like you have the newer version. These fans can be found at Radio Shack or anywhere computer parts are sold. It doesnt have to be an exact replacement. Just big enough to fit over the Cooling fins. Also make sure it's a 12 volt motor

SOURCE: My coleman electric cooler model

For that to happen the electronic component that causes to cool the container already defective. It need to be replace with similar parts.
You can fix it, if you have some knowledge in electronic or electrical, know how to test of component parts, able to use test instruments.
If you don't have such knowledge, call a service technician to do that.
Good luck.
