Stripping down a Flymo HTC24 hedge trimmer

How do you strip down a Flymo HTC24 ( a 24volt portable hedge trimmer)? I have removed all screws from the handle but the locking ring to extend the reach seems to be holding the top half of the handle.

Try loosening the bolts up on the blades just enough to allow the washers to move freely a little, spray the blades down (but don't soak them ) with WD40 to lubricate the blades, that should solve it. If that doesn't do it then you may need to pull the gear housing cover off to see if something is jammed.

SOURCE: oven door handle falls off screw not holding on Kenmore 790.7876

After several unhelpful calls, we called sears parts at 1800-366-7278 and they are sending us a supposedly 'new and improved' door handle & screws (for $44). When we receive it, we'll put up a post if it is actually 'better' or if it's just the same (to save others the same $44 charge). The part comes with a 90 day guarantee. Although I don't feel we should have to pay $44 to solve an obvious manufacturer flaw - we'll just be happy to have an oven that's 'safe' to use again. Fingers crossed.

SOURCE: flymo sabre hedge trimmer blades move but do not cut!

It sounds as if they have come off of the spindle inside and are not synchronised as they should be so the bottom blade is being pushed out of the way when trying to cut. You need to open up the head and unscrew the top to the small gearbox and make sure the bottom blade hasn't jumped up off of the catch point on the shaft.

Engine runs but blades dont move

John:

My bet is that the drive gears are stripped. Lay the machine on it's back and see the 4 screws that hold the sole plate on to the body of the machine, (The sole plate is also the bottom cutting frame that the blade slides against). Remove the 4 screws (be careful... there will be a small circular bushing under the sole plate and it likes to jump out, fall off of the table, and run under the nearest immovable object!) Remove the sole plate and blade and upper cutting frame as a unit. You can now see the gears that drive the blade, and one (or both) of the gears will be stripped of it's teeth. Go to the manufacturer's website and you might be able to buy new gears.

Neuton cordless hedge trimmer sounds "rattly" and the blade doesn't go back and forth. the battery is good. could it be the motor?

Sounds like a problem I had, and it was the primary gear on the motor was stripped. So far no luck at finding the gear, but to replace the trimmer without battery would probably be cheaper.

THe engine has seized on my Homelite hege trimmer. I s there an easy way to free it up without stripping the engine down?

You could try removing the spark plug and spray WD40 into the cylinder and leave it for a day. Remove the starter assembly first though and check whether this is somehow preventing the engine from turning.

My Black and Decker hedge trimmer's blades won't move, but smoke and a burning smell comes from the motor. Can it be fixed? How much would it cost?

Your blades are stuck together.
Had the same problem: when I turn on the trimmer, the motor would hum but the blades won't move.
What I did:
1. Sprayed a ton of wd40 between the blades
2. Took a screwdriver and kinda wedged it between the blades to get them unstuck. Also removed some guck between the blades.
And it worked!

I can help you with the manual!
http://www.flymo.co.uk/node789.aspx

Go to that site, in the window obove the "search" type HT450
Now you will see all avalible manuals for your hedge trimmer, and there are a couple of them. The manuals are in PDF so you can either download them or read them on your screen

Good luck¨
