I have an Akai PT5492S television that I don't know the v-chip password to and need to reset the v-chip password.

SETTING V-CHIP
This TV is fitted with a V-CHIP controller which provides you with channel viewing access controls
and restrictions. This function is to prevent your children from watching violence or sexual scenes
that you may choose to exclude.
Press the MENU button and press the SET + or – button to select the V-CHIP SET option,
then press the ENTER button.
Enter your password (4 digits) using the Direct channel selection buttons (0-9).
In the event of entering incorrect password press the RESET button. Then press the
ENTER button.
Enter the same password for confirmation, then press the ENTER button.
Press the SET + or – button to select the V-CHIP option.
Press the ENTER button to select the ON.
Press the SET + or – button to select the TV RATING or MOVIE RATING option. Press
the ENTER button.
Press the SET + or – button to select the desired rating for the applicable video or TV
channel. Press the ENTER button.

And to change or put in a new password:
NOTES:
• If you want to change password, follow steps 1 and 2 and select "CHANGE PASSWORD"
option then enter your new password.
• The V-Chip function is activated only on programs and tapes that have the rating signal.
• Once you block a program using the V-Chip function, the blocked program cannot be watched
based on the content of the show. When the program starts, the "INPUT PASSWORD" will
appear on the screen. When you want to release the V-Chip temporarily, enter the password.
If you change the channel or turn off the TV while the V-Chip function was temporarily released,
the original setting will be resumed. If you return to the channel you were watching you must
re-enter your password to temporarily release your V-Chip function again.
• When you watch the TV from the cable box or the VCR with the RF Modulator, then you release
the V-Chip temporarily, the V-Chip setting will not be resumed until you turn off the TV. The
TV channel is not used in this case.
• When changing the channel with the cable box or the VCR, approximately 10 seconds will
pass until the program appears.

C840 need to locate bios chip

If you are just looking to get past the power on password, there are two easy ways and do not require you to mess with the BIOS chip itself.

1. Unplug power cord from computer, then hit the power button to discharge stored electricity (safety). Open up your computer case and look for your battery. It is just a thin lithium battery. After you have found it, remove it. Leave it out for a few seconds (I always leave it out around 30 seconds) and put it back in. Then plug the computer back in and it should now be password free.

2. Locate (if equipped) the CMOS jumper. It usually is just like a hard drive jumper and covers 2 pins out of 3 that are in a row. Make it jump the pin that was not jumped before. Then move it back to original setting and boot up your computer...no more password.

Hope this helps.

My 20 inch tv is locked out of mature programs how do i fix it i go to the menu program but it requires a password to enter the v chip or acess

Hi,

If you try these solutions hopefully they will work for you...

The V-CHIP is bypassed holding down the VOLUME DOWN on the TV set and the ZERO key on the REMOTE control. This will alow you to go to the V-CHIP menu (TV MODE) and set a new password.

To bypass/override the V-CHIP password see the see explanation above, and to clear the forgotten parental control password (DVD mode) you need to hold down the VOLUME DOWN on the TV set and the FOUR key on the REMOTE until the message “Initialize5 Complete” appears on the TV screen. After that, you can set the new parental password.

Best Wishes,

Karlos

Bios info on hard drive

The BIOS password is not stored in the hard drive.
Try Dell as the password first.
The BIOS password could be stored in the BIOS chip or an an EEPROM chip.
If the password is stored in the BIOS chip, you can restore the BIOS back to the default setting and remove the password by removing the BIOS battery for 1/2 + hour, insert the battery and go into the BIOS configuration to set the Date & Time.
If the password is stored on the EEPROM chip, there are no backdoor passwords available.

I GOT AN AKAI TV MODELL #CFTD2083 AT GARRAGE SALE. THIS PAST WEEKEND AND WHEN I TURN IT ON IT SAYS SOMETHING ABOUT MY V CHIP BEING ON LOCKED SOMETHING LIKE THAT . WHAT I NEED TO KNOW IS HOW DO I FIX IT?...

The V chip is a parental locking device to keep the children off of the naughty chanels(lets you lock the chanels out you want too!)
You need the password to unlock the chip feature!
The people who sold you the TV are the ones who must have put in that password! if you can somhow get ahold of them they can give you the password and you can turn off the V chip!
I hope I was of help!

Unlocked supervisor password

There are no backdoor passwords that you can use to get into your computer. The password is not stored on the BIOS and removing the BIOS battery will not help you. The password is stored on an EEPROM chip, you need a hacker who can solder a piece of hardware to this chip, run a program to read the contents of the chip to reveal the password.
IBM state that you need to buy a new motherboard to fix this problem.
