Question about Electrical Supplies
Won't start. Looks like there's no spark even if I change the spark plug. Any suggestions? Typical causes?

First drain the fuel bowl. Any old fuel in there will keep it from starting. Fuel stabilizer is not what it's it cracked up to be. I've worked for 6yrs at a rental yard and had no luck with any fuel stabilizer, the fuel still went bad. If after you drain the fuel bowl it still will not start, you will need to clean the carb. Remove the carb and spray carb cleaner through all the accessible passages. If this does not do it, you will need to replace the carb. For long term storage I highly recommend draining all the fuel and filling just the carb with fuel stabilizer to keep gaskets moist. Then drain the carb when you take it out of storage.

SOURCE: Generator won't start. Seems to
have you had the generator stored with fuel in the carburettor since its last use if so the fuel goes bad and blocks up the main jet, remove the float bowl and clean out all the residue you can clean out the main jet with a suitable piece of wire

Always troubleshoot with new sparkplug. Remove the oil sending unit connection from the coil. The coil should work without any wires connected. Usually the only connections are oil sending unit that will short to ground when low oil condition and other wire must be kill wire to on/off switch. Use carb cleaner spray directly into the carb with air filter removed and choke off as fuel supply. Just a short spray and another short spray after a couple of pulls. If engine wants to start you will need to keep spraying cleaner for engine to continue to run. If engine wants to run, replace fuel with couple gallons of premium fuel to get it going. Hotter fuel will help if the compression is low. Good luck

It's either not getting enough fuel, or the govenor is not working. When the engine is running, watch the throttle linkage between the carburetor and engine, looks like a bent wire. When you throw a load on it, it should move to give the engine more power, if it dont, try moving it by hand.
If that appears to be working ok, check the fuel line from the tank to the carb for good gas flow.
You can also remove the float bowl on the bottom of the carb, it's a round bowl on the bottom of the carb with a bolt in the middle of it...clean it out and check the float. The float looks like a little catamaran, make sure it is moving freely up and down. That is about all you can do without removing and cleaning the jets in the carb.
Good luck, & i hope this helps.
