SOURCE: My 1996 Grand Voyager runs

You didn't mention any trouble codes. In 1996 all vehicles manufactured in the U.S were required to install the second generation OBD, also refered to as OBD II, to insure that a standard scanner could be used on all vehicles.

It shouldn't be a fuel problem with everything you've had done.

I don't believe it's an emissions problem, because, although emissions can cause a vehicle to stall it usually gives a bad idle and poor acceleration among other things.
Because you don't mention bad idle, loss of power, or no restart we can safely say it's not an emissions problem.

The only thing left that I can think of is an electrical short. I would start with having both ends of the auto shutdown relay checked for a good connection and have the contnuity checked.

Secondly, I would ant to have the wiring in the steering column checked for the same thing, in particular around the ignition. I am very sure your problem is electric.

I'm very sorry your having these issues and I hope this will help you solve them.
If you have other questions please feel free to leave me a comment, and I will get back to you ASAP.
Thanks, Donnie

Code 37 (Part Throttle Unlock (PTU) solenoid circuit is open or shorted)

This is detected when the ECU doesn't sense near 0vdc or 12vdc at the relay when the solenoid is turned on or off. When code 37 is thrown the power limited light will not be lit and the system will not enter limp mode. With manual ****** it can throw this code for no apparent reason.
Possible Reasons for Fault Code 37
Check the wiring and connections from the logic module to the solenoid. Clean and re-grease the connectors with Dielectric Grease.

The solenoid is located in the right, front fender next to one to three other solenoids. If I remember right it is nothing more than a simple plunger activated by an electromagnet type device. It redirects air from one port through another or to another port. I don't know about finding a new one if you need it but they are built well and you could find one at pull a apart. You can also spray carb/throttle body cleaner through it and clear any clogs that might be in it.

It is normal for it to blow out Exuast smoke when it is cold out. With the starting is your battery good? When was the last time it was tuneup? How many miles are on it? Was it mantain reguraly? That problem can lead to a lot of different things.

What does it mean when gas is coming out of the tail pipe and the car has no power?

Most likely your problem is being caused by a sticky fuel injector. When a fuel injector sticks open it constantly sprays fuel into the combustion chamber even when there is no spark being supplied to that cylinder. Therefor all that fuel gets expelled from the combustion chamber through the exhaust. The white colored smoke is the raw fuel burning in the exhaust pipe. The white smoke may also be caused by a blown head gasket(which can be caused by a stuck injector).

Dumping gas into oil and blowing white smoke changed the fuel pressure regulator no difference

White smoke is coolant getting into the cylinders , blown head gasket cracked head or crack in the block etc... . If the engine were running rich ,then black smoke would be coming out the tail pipe -exhaust !

White smoke and foam in the gas tank indicates antifreeze leaking into the engine somewhere. Do you smell antifreeze? You may have an engine seal leaking, most likely head gasket. It may be affecting the various engine sensors.

Burning gazoline and white smoke is coming out to tail pipe

This means its running rich, burnning to much gas. this could be due to a bad mass air flow sensor or bad o2 sensors or even a bad fuel pressure regulator, i would start with the fuel pressure regulator, remove the vacuum hose that goes to it and start the engine and see if gas is leaking from the port that vac hose goes to and if it is then replace that regulator and see how it runs from there. the rest you will need a scan tool to check the readings of the o2 sensors and mass air flow sensor. another thing is that if the engine is running rough it may be misfiring , skipping due to bad wires or sparkplugs. white smoke means alot of gas is being burnt and a regulator would be the first thing i would look at. good day.

Hi i have a 1988 ford f150 it idles up and down and always smells like gas also when you floor it or tap the gas after idling for a while black smoke comes out the tail pipes. i'm so sick of it running...

Check fuel pressure regulator by removing the vacuum hose. If idle does not change or fuel comes out of regulator replace it. Otherwise check your injectors one at a time while car is running. If idle does not change replace it.

My 92 ford is using excessive gas and has a bad gas smell with alot of smoke coming from tailpipe after i add gas

If the smoke comming from the tail pipe is black your running rich. If thats the case the entire fuel system has to be ckecked out. Injectors could be leaking, a bad pressure regulator, stuck return line ,a coolant temp sensor could be telling the ECU that the engines cold give her more gas. I don't recommend doing fuel service unless your qualified to do so for the obvious reasons.
If the smoke coming out of the tail is grayish you have a bad head gasket. If the smoke coming out of the tail is blue you have engine oil getting into the combustion chamber. keep me posted

White smoke coming from exhaust, smells like gas

Check the fuel pressure regulator. It should have a vacuum line attached to it - disconnect the vacuum line and turn the ignition on - if fuel come out then that's your problem. DON"T do this while the engine is hot or you could start a fire!
