Start button doesn't work in GE oven JPT15

I have GE built in oven JKP15WA. Worked perfectly for 10 years. Yesterday my wife tried to start it but it did not start. All buttons on the control panel work except the start button. Disassembled the control panel and checked the plastic ribbon cable, cleaned contacts in the receptacle for the ribbon cable. Still does not start. There is no any failure code letter flashing or any other indication of malfunction. tried to jumper contacts 1 & 2 in the receptacle of the ribbon cable, no effect. Tried to measure the resistance (ring the circuit in the ribbon calble contacts 1&2, did not get any readings on any ribbon cable contacts).

I have a double oven GE Profile. The error message FO appeared. I shut off the circuit breaker for 30 minutes or more and the oven works but without warning FO reappears. FO message means there is short in the clear Off touch button. The only solution replace the complete panel. My cost delivered $328. Ouch!

SOURCE: F1 error/touch panel not working on GE Monogram Dual Oven

Usually, the F1 means that either the touch pad or the oven control (also called clock or ERC) is defective and needs to be replaced. If this fault code cannot be canceled, replace the oven control (also called clock or ERC), touch pad, or both.

I recommend a service call for this repair.

GE PT916S R2SS Wall Oven gets moisture in the control panel and quits working Then we have to reset the circuit to get it to work again.

There is a good chance you will need to replace it - again and again and again. Electronics were never intended to be utilized in hot or damp/moist environments. But appliance manufacturers could not resist the urge to go modern and replace the perfectly good knobs we all grew up with with buttons and displays that tend to confuse more that help. It is for this reason that appliances today will never last the 10-15 years that the ones our parents bought lasted. The manufacturers know this as well and they're laughing all the way to the bank...

When trying to start oven for baking. I set the temp & press start. It shows the selected temperature, then, after about 10 seconds shows 100 degrees. Nothing happens after that. Oven does not ignite....

well, at least your door hinges are still working. Let me guess, this is less than 6 months old. Every review of these ovens shows the door function breaking. I wish I had better news...and good luck!

Oven not working

hey, turn the oven on and see if you see an orange glow at the bottom. this would be your glow coil. exactly like the broil. if you do, take an amp probe and check the amp draw to it. it should be over 2.9 amps. if no glow or low amps replace and start baking. enjoy

My start button on my kenmore built-in oven w/microwave won't wor

my kenmore model number 911-47699100 oven doesn't work. Everything except the oven and broil works--cleaning, all timers, start button, etc. All that happens when you push start is about every 30 seconds, two relays can be heard making and breaking kind of like a click then immediately a clack. No error codes appear. Replaced sensor but that didn't work. Any help would be appreciated.

Oven does not heat. Broiler and stove work. NO gas smell.

could be the oven thermostat, get a plumber/heating engineer out, but make sure you can trust him, cause he could try and say u need a new cooker when it MIGHT only be a new oven thermostat.

GE JKP27WP1 Built-In Double oven - the start button on the touch pad doesn't work. Everything else works fine. Haven't received an error code.

Try gaining access to the touch pad and, try to free up the start button. if this is unsuccessful, replace the touch pad.

Oven does not start

This is an update from James758. When I pressed the temp sensor probe and wiggled it a bit, sometimes the oven would work, but then it failed permanently after a few days. Had to call a repairman who charged $325 to replace the entire electronic panel and the separate sensor, although the failed part was only a relay on the board according to him. He also found a pinched wire when he pulled the oven out (one new electronic board relay failed when he first replaced it). Don't know how the wire to the sensor got pinched since the oven worked for 8 years without us moving that hidden wire. By the way, buying the sensor at a parts store in town was $18 versus his cost to us of $49. I'm sure the electronic board would also be much cheaper online. My wife watched the repairman replace the parts; you can save a lot of money doing it yourself.

Ge oven jtp18 broiler mode

Mine started doing this also. It is the "F7" error reported elsewhere, and it means a bad board or bad connections. I'm in search of a diagram or something to tell me how to open the face up and look at the contacts to the board.
