Hello
Nickel-Cadmium battery will have a voltage of 1.2V. Four cells together with in series connection give you 4.8VDC, The number 8000 on Denon battery denotes, that it has a current rating of 8000ma [milliampere]. Most of the Ni-Cd batterys will have the same rating. You can use any company's prodcut, provided the size should be the same. That is all. Some battery packs will have 1 ampere capacity, can be used in place safely. No problem at all. OK.

I have an AVR 988 system that will only shut down manually. I have shut down the system, changed batteries in my remote. Neither solved the problem. Any ideas?

Its a common problem with this Denon model series 1508,1708,988 the trouble lies with the power supply voltage going low. Usually its either the 15 or -15 volt that goes low. If either voltage goes low it will trigger the protection circuit hence the unit will shut down.

I lost sound from my Denon AVR 682 last night. Display and video are coming fine, but no sound on any input source setting. I have also noticed that a loud click noise that used to come after turning it on...

Reseat all audio connectors sometimes they get dirty. Do you have surge protection? Do any other audio functions work? Clean your remote change the batteries the mute may be stuck. I vote for the battries being weak and the remote will not clearly send all signals.

The Denon RC 1048 fell off couch and will not work now. I have replaced the batteries (to try and reset it), but the receiver seems to not "communicate" with the remote now. Any ideas?

It is possible that when it fell that the connectors on the infrared might broke loose therefore not sending a signal to your receiver. Easy way to check that when you press buttons on your remote does the red light come on or not? If not then take remote apart and re-solder connection. If the light comes on try resetting your remote code to the receiver that you have. You can find a list of remote codes in your user manual or online at (http://www.usa.denon.com/ProductSupportAndArchives.asp) just find the model number of your receiver and get the .pdf file from them.

Denon RC 969 Remote .Not Lighting up anymore ?.

These remotes are known to be weak, Denon is aware of the problem, here in the Netherlands they've sold out. Spare part no longer available. Try an older remote to an Denon AVR. these will work for say, 98% and are more reliable.

Denon DRA 395 volume creeps to max by itself

I also had this problem with my Denon DRA 395. I fixed it by replacing the batteries in my remote! Apparently when the remote batteries are nearly gone, but not 100%, they are capable of prompting the remote to unilaterally increase the volume at irregular intervals. It was kind of spooky!
