knjjjr what you have is a defective (or in this case) worn out lower wash arm support. No the shaft shouldn't come out. It will need to be replaced. However remember this dw is over 20 years old.

Yes there is the Water Div valve, it diverts the water between the wash arms.

SOURCE: bottom spray arm hits plates on lower shelf

That will only happen if the bottom basket is severely distorted or if the design of plates you're using means that they project below the bottom of the basket.

The first problem is fixed by straightening the basket or replacing it; the second one can only be fixed by experimenting with different ways of loading the plates to avoid them projecting down through the basket or by using different plates.

How do I remove lower spray arm

Pull out the lower wash rack. Using a flat-bladed screwdriver, CAREFULLY pry the 2 tabs at the bottom of the washarm so it can move up and over the "hold-down plate" Be careful! Those tabs have a tendency to break off, especially the older the dishwasher is. You may be forced to buy a new wash arm.

HOW TO ADJUST BOTTOM BLADE OF MY GE PROFILE DISHWASER

What do you mean "bottom blade"? Do you mean the lower wash arm? There is no "adjustment" built into the dishwasher, but if it's hitting the heater element (or its supports), you might be able to bend it slightly. If it's hitting the lower rack, make sure your rack has all of its wheels attached, and that it's not bend down.

Bottom water sprayer not spining

If the dishwasher won't clean dishes, check the lower wash arm assembly. If the lower wash arm isn't getting water, all of the dishes in the lower rack will come out dirty. Check to be sure the lower wash arm assembly spins freely. Also check to be sure the little holes in the lower wash arm aren't clogged or blocked.

Why are the items on bottom rack not being cleaned properly

If is clean dishes in the upper basket, I conclude that the pump produces enough pressure what means that the lower spray arm for some reason does not rotate and because that washing result is bad. Before washing I would check the lower spray arm rotates freely and after that open the door during washing and check if the lower spray arm rotates. Sometimes, the holes in the spray arm clog and disable turning which leads to poor washing results in the lower basket.

Kenmore 3380957 rev a won't get dishes clean

Make sure that that upper arm is free to turn. Check it while you have dished installed, because sometimes, dishes on the lower rack may stick up too high and hit it. Otherwise, check the back of the water-supply tube attached to that upper rack.... Is it lining up with the water feed port or hole at the backof the dishwasher? Is there a gasket that is either ripped or missing? And check that wash arm carefully.... Might it be split or bent? Are the holes on the bottom clear? (Those holes are usually angled to push the arm around; if they are clogged, the arm won't rotate.)

How do I remove the bottom arm to unclog it?

Based on my dishwasher which is a similar model, unscrew the cap on the support arm. Then lift off the lower wash arm. (Turn counterclockwise to loosen.)

There are several models of the KUDS02FRSS and the parts diagrams and manuals are available from http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/owner_manuals/search?query=KitchenAid+KUDS02FRSS .

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(we recently had to take off the the lower wash arm to replace a seal; by the time the part arrived, we forget how tight the cap was on originally. Pay close attention to the wash arm ease of rotation when you disassemble it. We overtightened it and the arm refused to spin until we corrected the mistake.)
