SOURCE: why does lawn tractor blow fuse eveytime when attempting to start?

It could be one of a few things causing the fuse to blow. The ignition switch could be defective, It could be a bare wire grounding out somewhere, It could be the alternator or regulator / rectifier. If you don't know how to repair electronic problems you may want to hire a lawn and garden repair technician.

Are you sure it's blown? Run two jumper wires from the battery or power side of the starter solenoid and energize the clutch. If it energizes and clicks, that's eliminated. Did you blow any fuses?

Keeps blowing fuse

There are several things that can cause the fuse to blow. PTO stands for Power Take Off and most likely this will not be the problem unless it blows the fuse when it is turned on. What you are saying is the fuse is blowing by just turning on the switch will be a short which can be anything from a pinched wire, shorted diode, short in the stator. bad voltage regulator.etc

Just stopped, put in gas, turn key...NOTHING

If it has a Briggs and Stratton motor open the hood and look all along the wire harnesses. There might be an automotive type plug in 20 amp fuse that has blown. If it did blow there is a reason. First look for a dead short somewhere. Mine was a loose wiring terminal at the headlight. Replace fuse and try to start.

If the problem occured after the deck work check everywhere you worked on the deck. You are lookining for a pinched wire. What is occuring is with the vibration of the mower running the pinched wire will rub and touch ground causing the fuse to blow and shut off the engine. Even if not concerning the deck that is what you have to look for. It can be time consuming but this is what you have to do. The short if not about the deck try checking the seat area this is a common area of problems with shorts in riding mowers.

Engine ran and now lost spark!

Look for a fuse and see if it has blown. It will look like a fuse you use in your vehicle. If blown put in a new one. If it blows again look for a bare wire that could be shorting out.
