Question about Lands Phones
I was on Orange and had home broadband, home phone and mobile all together. I had disabled the voicemail on the home phone as I have an answer machine and could see whether there were any messages on that. We then transferred to EE (as Orange was taken over, or whatever it was); I have just called home and EE voicemail has intercepted the call - something I do NOT want, as we don't use the home phone every day and a voicemail message could sit there for days without being noticed. How do I disable the EE voicemail service on my home phone?

Try the following
send a text with the phrase remove voicemail divert to 150 will cancel the voicemail divert
(sending a text with the phrase voicemail divert to 150 will re-enable the voicemail service).
if that doesnt work ring EE customer service they can do it for you

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I also had this problem. I have my phone thru Charter. It seems that you may need to call your telephone support (Comcast or whoever) and set up your service for voicemail. You may need to make up a pin number for this. I called Charter telephone service and the guy walked me thru the steps I needed to get set up..
This solved the problem for me.

I have a 2.4 GHz cordless phone and I misplaced the manual. The answering machine went off. I would like to know how to put my voice on the phone.

AT&T's telephone website has manuals (in pdf form) for a vast selection of AT&T/Lucent branded consumer telephone products.
Here is the link to the 2462:
According to page 31, there is a button on the base that will allow you to disable the answering machine for each individual telephone line.

This feature is country dependent and may not
appear in some countries.
If you have subscribed to the voicemail service
from your local service provider, icon turns
on when you have a new message in your
mailbox. After you have accessed to all the new
messages, icon will turn off automatically. If
you find that the message waiting indication
cannot be turned off by the network, you can
still turn off the message waiting indication with
your phone by the following step :
In idle mode, if voice mail waiting icon is on,
long press the redial key to turn off the voice mail waiting
Once you choose to delete the message waiting
indication, all the other handsets registered to
the same base station will turn off the message
waiting indication accordingly.
