How do you change the drive belt that runs to the motor. I can't even figure out how to get the old blet off.

first -make a diagram of the belt position
next there will be adjuster pulley/s or spring loaded pulleys to release to loosen the belt
you may have to remove cutter drive belts to assist in the replacement
get diagrams of how they are before removing them

Cable streched on swisher trailmower

Pull the belt cover off on the side of the engage lever and you will see that it is not a wire cable that engages the idler pulley. It's a rod connected to a long spring. Perhaps the spring came off or is defective as it puts tension on the idler pulley against the drive belt when you engage the blades. Further, there is a return spring to pull the idler pulley away from the drive belt when you disengage the blades. Check all the connections for the springs and see that the engage lever is mounted tightly. Also check the idler pulley itself.

Trying to find out the thickness of the V-Belts on my Swisher T14560. 1/2, 3/8, or 5/8.

They are 1/2" V-belts. The lengths are 47" and 122". I have found that the blue kevlar belts last the longest. http://www.vbelts4less.com has great prices.
