Black screen problem on start up

When i open the case & press start up, the screen starts up black, i get the start up sound but no picture. If i force power down a few times occasionally it will boot up, when i does it works fine. Only if the lid is full open, if i try to close the lid, by even 10mm the screen goes black & i have to force close again & start again. I found that once i get the laptop on, if i leave the lid full open [do not close it] and power down in the normal way, it will start up again with no problem. Before i fell out with the supplier, they mentioned a problem with the cable connecting the screen to the board inside. They said opening and closing the lid must have made it come lose. As normal with china products warranty is none existant, so can anybody tell me if this is possible and can i fix it myself. Thanks

SOURCE: Won't stop ringing

Well, I doubt it's the phone but just to make sure, swap phones around and see if the problem stays at the extension or moves with the phone. I am not familiar with the timed reminder feature but that certainly does sound suspicious... Have you used this feature before? Does it make your phone ring? There may be something special you need to do to answer the timed reminder and make it go away. Possibly canceling the timed reminder was too late after it was set off.

SOURCE: Sensor lights not working on door opener

If the sensor light or receiver gets kicked, it can be knocked out of alignment. If it's not aligned, it will act as though it is blocked -- in other words it will open, but not close.
I fixed my buddy's opener not long ago -- you should have two parts of the sensor, near the floor at the bottom of the door. One is an infrared light, the other is a receiver. The receiver should have a little LED on it. This glows green when it is receiving a clear signal from the other side. If your's is glowing red when you can see that the path is clear, try adjusting the aim of the infrared light. You should be able to gently move the light from side to side until you see the LED on the receiver glow green.

SOURCE: No internal hard disk found after laptop is closed?

Hi,
To fix this problem you would need to try this.
*Run the psa test
1. press the 'fn' key and power key together, it will automatically launch a diagnostic test, follow the onscreen instructions confirm if it comes with any error code (it should come up with 0141 error code if it is a hard drive problem).
2. check the hard drive status in bios (check if it is being detected). To do this you would need to switch on the laptop and start tapping F2 key (multiple times, especially at dell logo). this will lead you to bios. using the down errow key on the keyboard, go to device info and check the first option on the right hand side (primary hard drive). confirm if it is detecting the hard drive or it says none or unknown.
3. Remove the optical drive by following the link (support.euro.dell.com) and check if it works after removing the optical drive. This is because optical drive can cause the hard drive not to work properly as they are interconnected with each other.
Once you have performed the above steps, confirm so that I can suggest you the rest of the steps accordingly.

Regards,
Musheer.

SOURCE: D800 laptop will not display on external monitor

Most laptops go into standby mode when the lid is closed. To stop this, (Windows XP) click Start, Control Panel, Performance and Maintenance, Power Options, then click on the Advanced tab, select "Do nothing" in the drop-down for "When I close the lid of my portable computer"

Gateway all in one touch screen went all black one long and two short beeps.what happened

Ok first turn the power off at the wall & disconnect the power cable, now open your computer. Once open if you do not have an ani-static strap simply touch the case to discharge any static and keep your hand there. Whilst you have one hand on the case with the other hand gently press down on the ram & any add-on cards to ensure they are seated fully, secondly again whilst still holding the case with 1 hand make sure that all other connectors such as power, hdd, etc & all connections to the motherboard are fully seated. Then after you have done all this plug you power cable back in and re-connect the power cable to mains & try restarting your computer if it starts as normal then it was one of the components had creeped up with the cycling up & down of the pc this is a normal thing due to expansion & contraction of the metals etc that make the components up inside your pc. If this hasn't helped then turn it off at the wall again & disconnect power cable from the wall & computer then you can take out all add-on cards & add the power back to the system & start up your pc if it doesn't start then it is the hdd has either failed or become corrupted & will either need to be recovered professionally or repaired or replaced it is cheaper to replace a hdd than to have it repaired. Yet if you computer starts then shut down add 1 add-on card back to the system & start up if it starts with that add-on card continue to add the add-on cards back in until it fails that's if it a case of an add-on card failing. If it is an add-on card that has failed simply purchase a new add-on card & install remember to remove the old add-on card prior to adding a new 1 unless it is the exact same add-on card to avoid conflicts.

Does not boot up, fans start, internet plugs light, clicks on and off.....seems this is a common problem for these machines, what is the fix?

Instructions
  1. When you press the Power button to start the boot process, the LED lights glow while the computer verifies that there is sufficient electrical power to activate the hardware.

Effect & Solution: When you press the power button, the LED lights on the computer do not glow or the LEDs blink briefly and then stop. There is no sound of the fan or hard drive spinning, and the screen remains blank. The computer will not start if there is insufficient battery or AC adapter power.
  2. The BIOS queries various hardware components used for the startup boot process.

Effect & Solution: When you press the power button, the LEDs glow but there is no fan or hard drive sound. The LEDs may glow briefly and then go out.

    Or

The LED lights blink, stop, and then blink a second or third time, but there is no sound from the computer and the screen remains blank. The sequence of the blinking lights indicates a specific error code.

    Or

A series of beeping tones is heard. The sequence of beeping tones indicate a specific error code.

If a hardware component has recently been replaced, or if the PC has been jarred or shaken, there may be a loose connection to the memory chips or hard drive which prevents the computer from starting.
  3. The BIOS loads the basic input (keyboard) and output (advanced LEDs / display screen / boot drives) devices into memory.

Effect & Solution: When you press the power button, the LEDs glow, the fan or hard drive sounds, are heard, but then the boot process stops and a black screen - with an error message - displays.

The boot check has detected a communication error or conflict with a hardware component that must be corrected.
  4. The BIOS loads the Windows operating system and starts the services that allow low-level control of all of the background operations.

Effect & Solution: When you press the power button, the LEDs glow, the fan or hard drive sounds, are heard, the HP or Compaq Logo displays on a black screen, but then the boot process stops and a blue screen - with an error message - displays.

The boot check has detected a hardware driver error or a software conflict that must be corrected.
  5. Control is transferred to the Windows loader to initiate the display of the advanced settings in the Windows environment.

The Windows logo displays during this step.

Effect & Solution: When you press the power button, the computer performs all the steps in the boot process, but after the Windows Logo displays, the moving Windows progress bar or the rotating cursor stops moving and the boot process stops.

An error message may display on a screen with the Windows logo. In some instances, there is no specific error message.

    Or

A black screen appears and the computer attempts to restart.

The Windows self-check has detected a software conflict that must be corrected.

At start up, distorted / dble vision fuzzy. Screen will go black with sound. Turn off & on to get very poor distorted picture. After 15 - 20 minutes clears up.

Hello,

The reason your television is having distorted vision and screen going black with sound is because there is a problem inside the unit. This problem could be caused by either a bad lamp or a faulty t-com board.

My best bet is the lamp, because it is when the lamp start developing any fault it begins the distorted screen thing and coming up black.

What you hsve to do is to get a replacement lamp, open up the television and replace the lamp with a new one, after doing that your television will be in good condition once again.

Take care and good luck

Black screen Sony Ericsson K850i

Hi,

I just had the same problem. I tried everything including resetting the whole phone upgrading the software etc etc.

I was convinced it was a softare problem, but my screen only went black when i press the buttons on one side of the keywpad so i started thinking it may simply be hardware related.

I tried taking off the case but didnt have the screw drivers to do this.

Eventually in a fit of rage I threw my phone on the floor (Carpetted floor) and too my surprise the problem got better! I basically gave my phone a few more whacks and it started to work fine again.

I am not suggsting you start whacking your phone, but i imagine if you took off the case and re-fitted it this would work.

Good luck.
