Question about Computers & Internet
My son recons he was on his laptop & the screen went blank. Still a light but nothing on the screen.I restarted it but only get the Fujitsu main screen & it goes no further. I tried restart & F10 it only comes up with boot menu but will not progress to anything else. Even esc from there doesn't work.I've done the basic static drain but a bit stumped as to what it could be.Thanks for any suggestions in advance.

First you need to determine how many blinks you are getting when you try to power on the laptop.
Check the blinking codes below and reason behind that for HP Compaq laptops
Blinking battery power LED Battery Insufficient charge on the battery
Blink: 1 - Caps Lock/Num Lock - CPU CPU not functional
Blink: 2 - Caps Lock/Num Lock - BIOS BIOS corruption failure
Blink: 3 - Caps Lock/Num Lock - Memory Module error not functional
Blink: 4 - Caps Lock/Num Lock - Graphics Graphics controller not functional
Blink: 5 - Caps Lock/Num Lock - System board General system board failure
Blink: 6 - Caps Lock/Num Lock - BIOS BIOS authentication failure
Plz get back so I can suggest you the steps to resolve the issue.

Have you tried draining the static on your computer?
Turn off the computer
remove the battery and adapter
press and hold the power button for 1 minute
plugged back in the adapter and battery
turned on the computer
if not resolved:
tried using an external monitor and connect to your computer to check if you can have a video on the external, if yes it is possible an LCD issue
Also, you may try using a flashlight in your LCD and check if you can see any, if none?
I suspect possible LCD issue.

What you would need to do is go to the power button, turn on and immediately hit the F8 key and go into safe mode with networking, and then run malware bytes to see if there is any virus's on the computer, use this link to download malware bytes free edition to clean the computer of virus http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?part=dl-10804572&subj=dl&tag=button
Once completed, then if it still doesn't work, you would need to reload the operating system, make sure the computer is backed up, then use the install disks that came with the computer when you bought it, the install will take about 2 hours, if you don't have the install discs call the manufactuer and then will send you them in the mail for free to reload the computer software.
