Kenwood kc-x1 thx preamp: lights are on but nobodys home

I bought a kenwood kc-x1 and km-x1 preamp and tuner set. The preamp has no output to the amp. when I look at the volume setting and turn the volume control, no matter how far I turn the knob the numbers change 1 or 2 +/-. I was wondering if this was a common problem and what could be done to rectify it. I do not have the remote and the amp works just fine.

SOURCE: No Sound - boat stereo

Assuming that the four speakers are connected to the amplifier, then the amp is the most likely problem component. Does the amplifier show a power light when the system is turned on? Note that there is probably another fuse in the amplifier power wire, near the battery.

SOURCE: kenwood control amp KC-206

Sounds like a low voltage to the front panel as the indicators are there such as control window illumination is dim and the remote does not function.
The remote sends an invisible signal to a detector just behind the front panel and if the signal from the remote is nice and strong from your new batteries in the remote then it must be the panel electronics.

I have found that if you clean the output panel of the remote with a damp cloth and the same to the front panel glass you may be lucky. Just Damp please not dripping in water!!!!!

If ypu keep the amplifier system very clean then this wont be the problem...But this action has worked on TV's with remotes...

If this doesnt work then a service is due....sorry....no quick fix..

Cheers YOU BEUT

SOURCE: Kenwood stereo control amplifier KC-206 doesn't work

I was able to use an universal remote control that I have, a Radio Shack Kameleon 6 in one remote control which I was able to program to run the audio portion of the Kenwood KC 206 control preamp. By adjust the remote sensor volume to max, I was able to get maximum volume out of the unit and drive the power section very nicely. Now I have to get up and manually turn the manual volume control for addition volume adjustment.

Hopefully Ken can find a remote that he can control the Kenwood control preamp the same way I did. Good luck here.

How can i hook up my kenwood stereo control amplifier KC-105 to my GPX home stereo system?

If the GPX has an headphone output you could use the a stereo headphone jack to two phono cables lead. Connect them to the "aux" socket of the amp, or another suitable - not a phono or deck - socket.
You would have to keep the volume level low on the GPX unit, but apart from that all the functions should work.

What is the idle current or voltage?

Idle current is a small amount of current that is flowing through the output stage of the amp with no signal applied. If this current is too high, it could lead to the amp overheating and eventual failure. If it is too low, it will cause distortion in your audio output.

Am trying to hook up an older kenwood home stereo system and dont know where all of the wires go. There is a model #kt-87synthesizer, km-207 amplifier, double cassette kx-77cw, stereo control amp kc-207...

Okay you are going to need 5 sets of RCA cables of 3 foot lengths. Ensure the KM-207 is adequately ventilated unless you want to burn up the KM-207. Next you will want to place the KC-207 near the KM-207 and connect the "Output to Amp" from the KC-207 to the "Input" to the KM-207. Now you may stack the KX-77CW, the DP-M97 and the KT-87 Tuner in no particular order. I tend to place them sideways so I may access them just in case I don't like how it is set up. Unless I can access them from the back. "Output" or "Play" from the DP-M207 goes into the "CD Input" in the back of the KC-207. "Output" or "Record" on the KC-207 "Tape 1" goes into the "Input or "Record" on the KX-77CW. "Output"or "Play" on the KX-77CW goes into the "Input" or "Play" on the "Tape 1" of the KC-207. "Output" on the KT-87 Tuner goes into the "Tuner Input" on the KC-207. Here is a trick to help you new stuff uses color codes such as White or Blue RCA cable ends, and Red RCA cable ends to indicate White or Blue for Left channel and Red for Right channel. Now you didn't indicate how to hookup speakers so I will not assume you are concerned about anything but using headphones for listening. I hope this has been of assistance.

Since Kenwood makes a lot of amps, I can't be specific. Check to see if speaker (A/B) is switched on. Make sure "mute" switch is off. If useing tuner, make sure to hook up AM/FM ant.

How to turn on Kenwood KM-Z1 amp with SL16 input

Have you plugged the amp into the AV9000. Check if the outlet you are using is switched or unswitched. Changing the outlet will most likely do the trick.
