Question about Peavey CS® 2000 Amplifier

1 Answer

No Power to A channel

When switch on the Peavey CS200 the power light on the "A" channel does not come on. The Fan on the same "A" channel revs up very hard and what sound like a relay does not click in. The "B" channel works fine.

SOURCE: i have a peavey 8.5c power amp channel one led comes as soon as signal is inputed but,no volume out of channel a very weak

One of the preamp IC's may have failed. They used LM3080N and RC4558 IC's- the 4558 you can use any 4558 as they were all high quality lo noise. The LM3080N may still be available from Mouser, i did not check them. NTE may have a replacement, but not likely to be as quiet as the original.

Even with schematic- which they do not have a provision for me to dupload, You would still end up and either buzz test starting from the output transistors and working back OR putting an audio source on the input and using a high impedance old style headphone like they used to use for ham radio (or modern earbuds connected to an impedance matching transformer low impedance winding and the high impedance winding ) you simply attach one lead to ground and then attach a test lead to the other end of the winding and work your way forward until you lose the audio signal.

Outputs of 4558 are pins 1 and 7, and inputs are 2&3 and 5&6 Do not be surprised if one input goes quiet- if both go quiet you are close. The outputs are the more important test point. These are directly in the audio path and most likely for one to have failed.

My peavey amp pv 2600 only plays on channel A. No output on the B side

Check the "BRIDGE" switch position, "IN" for "BRIDGE", "OUT" for "STEREO", and clean ALL back switches with a cleaning spray and then run the amp again, also check the two green lights activation at front, if they activate, then amp is certainly working, let me know further.

No output channel B from peavey pv2600

Make sure the Stereo/Bridge switch is out on the back of the amp. If bridged channel 2 will be disabled.

The DDT light on one channel stays on,but I can't find a reason why? What can I do?

Disconnect the speaker wiring and speaker on the bad channel. Turn the level control(s) all the way counterclockwise and turn the amp on. If your DDT (limiting) light remains lit, it's time for a visit to your nearest certified Peavey service center....G.

Peavey PV 8.5C DDT is activated on channel A even al low volume, channel B works fine. All 8 power transistors on both channels were found OK. Driver transistors and 15V zener diodes are all OK as well....

Check your speakers and Cables. I had some speakers that traveled in my small trailer and the vibrations of the trailer caused the diaphram to back off my horns. Once I got the speakers fixed the DDT light on my power amp stopped staying on so much.

I've lost both channels. if you plug into the amp and turn it way up you can hear a very low output on both channels

Hard to say what device you have. Peavey makes a lot of things.

If this happened to be a peavey amp that has effects send/receive, a bad "send" jack could cause the problem due to the integral switch that sends the signal to the power amp.

Peavey cs800x a channel drive board what goes bad?

A bit late, but I'll give it a try.
You can measure the outputsignal before the relay.
Often there's a coil, measure if you've got a DC level at that point.
If so, you're power amp is down.
Normally when the relay doesn't switch there's a DC level in your amp.

Cheers, Gerard
