You should be getting somewhere between 11 to 14 volts depending on how many things your truck is running that take power.

What voltage should be at coil for it to fire engine and how to check. Chevy v6 pickup 98 model

Voltage at the coil will be whatever your battery voltage is. Should be 12.6v with a good and fully charged battery. With the vehicle running it will jump up to around 14.2v.

here is a little help. if you need more I am on facebook. There are 2 ignition 1 voltage circuits supplied to the Engine Control Module (ECM). The first ignition circuit is provided by the powertrain relay, through a fuse. This ignition 1 voltage circuit supplies power to all the internal ECM circuits associated with the throttle actuator control (TAC) operation. The second ignition 1 voltage circuit is supplied by the run/crank relay through a fuse, and is used to power the remaining internal ECM circuits. If the ECM detects a voltage difference between the 2 ignition 1 voltage circuits, DTC

Hi, I am working on a 1992 GMC Suburban's alternator. I replaced a bad alternator and the new unit went bad within days. I replaced the alternator again just yesterday and am noticing problems. The...

Most alternators put out around 14.7 volts. Yours is alittle high. You might check it with another meter to be sure. Voltage does drop when the engine is running and has a load on it. ie lights, A/C, Blower. radio. As long as it stays above 12 volts it is working. I have bought parts before that last only days, so I wouldn't worry about the first alternator. If the voltage drop continues (say to 8 volts?), Then I would check wires (loose connections). The first would be the ignition wire going to the starter. On your year the battery power went to the starter and most of the ignition power ran from there. There could be several wires from the starter hot side. ( sorry I can't be exact, I haven't worked on one for awhile). Also check the grounds, battery to engine, engine to body, battery to body.

Sounds as if your alternator is not charging the battery. The battery is the main source of your engine "spark". the alternator is across the leads to supply charging to bring your battery up to the 13.2 volts that is available. Of course the alternator will run your auto if it is producing voltage, i.e. jump start, or push start. It takes a certain voltage to run your computer which monitors the battery and if that voltage is not sufficent to produce the timed spark, (battery runs down), then the vehicle will not fire on all cylindars.

What type of fuel recomended for 2006 gmc envoy

Fortunately the way they refine fuel these days and the way they engineer these cars and engines, the lowest grade is sufficient and will not cause any damage to the engine or void any warranties. So in short, 87 octane is just fine.

but theres also the problem of alternator is getting ready to give only
take an electro meter and hook up to cigarette lighter with a 2 post power maker and watch the voltage as your driving try to recreate the conditions that brought this about if the reading changes dramatically this will tell your alternator will need to be replaced at some point also dead cells in battery creates this little bump in electrical
