Question about Televison & Video
Our TV has started to turn itself off, if its on, or on if its off at 12 midnight every night. Any ideas?
1) test the power button for open or short and replace it
2) test the power supply for faulty, IC regulator, or bulged capacitor, or resistor, or diode.
God bless you

I think you are looking at a power board problem. I had the same thing happen to a Vizio and I replaced the power board and it solved the problem. It could also be the input board but most likely the power board.

Sounds like you have bad capacitors in the power supply. If you look they will have a bulg on the top, replace them and you should be ok.

This issue is related to the TV's main board not seeing constant A/C power to unit so the board is turning off the TV.
When the TV's main board see A/C power back to the unit, the TV will try to turn back on.
This issue could be a loose power connection for the TV or a failing part inside the TV. Do other electrical devices work when plugged into the same wall outlet?
Try the following:
1. Remove the cord from the back of the TV and reinstall it (perhaps it's loose going into the TV and was not installed correctly).
2. Try putting the cord into a different wall outlet (perhaps it's not a good outlet).
3. Try using a new power cord for the TV. (Any matching cord will work for testing)
If the above did not resolve the issue, then it could be the switch mode power supply and or the main board inside the TV. Both items are easy to change out.
I can look up the LG part number for you.

Possible failure of the power supply in the TV. This is the SMPS type and so the failure of the driver must be checked. Please find the link below for tips.
