No, you must format all your hard disk, (erase all) for you can be install the new o.system. Otherwise you must get some error.
Of course if you are installing disk, you must sure is very clean or your lector cd is very clean, try to use the disk cleaner from radio shack, or other electronic store or if you are using USB , that you tab correctly.
God bless you

My toshbia c655-S5125 lost power in the middle of a disc repair and now windows will not boot. i can get to the bios, but can not get windows to boot from the hard drive or the cd

Sounds like a corrupted operating system. You need to reinstall windows from scratch. Also the hard drive may be corrupted and you may need a new hard drive. Since you can't really do much of anything you will need a copy of the windows OS on disks If the bios will not let you boot from a CD install disk then I suggest you need a professional to help you. You need to have a BOOT DISK in the cd drive for the system to get further than the bios software. If that won't work then your problems are deeper than a corrupted hard drive.

Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key? please help me proceed from this screen when starting pc.

Try putting in your windows disk and using the repair option, your hard drive could be bad or data corrupted, you may have to reinstall windows if you are unable to recover it using the repair console. run CHKDSK /p from the C:\ prompt in the repair console. If you still are unable to access the disk, try reseating the cables on the drive, or using a different power cable. If none of that works, replace the hard drive.

My macbook when i uploading i turn off macbook and i turn on macbook didn't boot up just see turn around aound forever not go to windows i lost system disk unable to boot macbook

Check for a failing hard drive
Trying booting from the Mac OS X install disc. insert the Mac OS X install disc. press the start button, while holding down the "C" key on the keyboard
Once you are running from the disc. go to Disk Utilities select the hard drive click the "repair permissions" button at the bottom.
If you get any red errors listed or it doesn't seem to finish repairing the permissions you have a failing hard drive and it will need to be replaced.
If the repair permissions finishes without any problems. You will have to reinstall the operating system.

I am unable to fromat my IBM machine, its not

your bios maybe infected with a virus. first try removing the cmos battery in your ibm machine for 1 minute and put it back. next, make sure that the hard disk is working and is not corrupted try making a new partition in a different pc. Paste all the files from the windows xp installer to your newly made partition. next put the hard disk into your ibm pc. and wait till it boots into your hard drive and the setup will begin. make another partition for your windows xp system and install it to that directory. if you cannot boot into your hard disk, there may be a problem with your ide cables. try checking the cables from your ibm pc connected to your hard disk.pm me if you still have problems and questions.. heres my email jmizpahadonai777@gmail.com
Thank you

New hard drive to install windows sayind

If you have not checked these(I am sure you have probably gone through this or don't need to but just in case)

First thing is first you have installed a new hard disk, is this the only hard disk installed. If Yes, does the bios recognize it? If Yes, is it bootable. Meaning is there a working copy of windows installed? If not reinstall from windows installation disk. If Yes, you may still have to reinstall windows you can use the windows installation disk as well.

This sounds like an issue that I had taking a hard drive from one computer and placing it in a brand new one. This message sounds like windows is damaged. I had to reinstall windows and leave the file system intact. There is an option to do this. If you feel comfortable you can always use a boot disk and check the boot .ini to make sure that it has the correct path for windows written in that may be the issue there. This file is hidden in the root directory of the drive.
