Dvd not burning

Sony made burners that required caddies a while back. And by looks of this post they also made special discs, listing for as much as $73 ea. Besides, magneto it more like tape.

Yours drive is a regular HP laptop burner. They are not compatible. You can get blank DVD's for $.50 each.

My Sony vaio came already loaded form Sony, after

go here for a how to:
http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=C1009579&sliceId=1&docTypeID=DT_KNOWLEDGEARTICLES_1_1&dialogID=128698405&stateId=1 0 128704615

Or try this-
  1. Place a blank media disc into the appropriate optical drive.
  2. Click the Start button and in the Search programs and files field, type system repair disc , and then press the Enter key. LoadImage('png60589.png','Block BorderSolid','','','Search programs and files') png60589.png
  3. In the Create a system repair disc window, click the Create disc button. LoadImage('png61020.png','Block BorderSolid','','','Create a system repair disc') png61020.png
NOTE: In the Drive field, the appropriate optical drive should have been displayed automatically. If your computer has more than one optical drive capable of burning to blank media, you can click the down arrow and then click to select a different drive.
  4. When the Using the system repair disc window appears, remove the disc from the optical drive, follow the on-screen instructions to label the disc appropriately, and then click the Close button.
  5. In the Create a system repair disc window, click the OK button.

Sony Vaio Notebook's blu-Ray optical drive stops during DVD play

The laser is definitely weak on that drive, it takes alot of power to play blu-ray discs and if the laser may have been slightly defective to begin with then that can cause the drive to act funky the way it has been.

Whatever blu-ray drive you get doesn't matter as long as the shape of it is the same as the one you have now cause all you would have to do is change out the front door and the screw holder on the back of the drive, then because the shape of the drive is the same, you can move it back into its slot.

Your notebook is new enough to where any drive will work in it.

No game disc will load will only play c.d.s and d.v.d.s

HI, this particular model has the versatile optical lens that will allow a variety of scans(DVD, B-RAY,CD,Ps1&2). the actual optical assembly has two lens that are used for these different types of media. the actual B-RAY lens has failed in this case and, you will need to replace the entire optical assembly in order to restore normal reading functions.

I want to play mp3 music on a standard hi-fi kit. I have a Sony Vaio VGC-TP media centre with an S/PDIF optical output. I am intending to buy a Cambridge Audio amplifier and a couple of bookshelf...

HI,all you need to do is hook up the optical out put to the optical in on the amp this will give you the best sound, also try phono out of media centre if you have it as this has a higher band width.

HOPE THIS HELPS.

Installing standard third-party optical drives in VAIO PCV-650 case

Hi there. I've worked for Sony VAIO and can assure you that the only solution is to get a Sony Branded Spare parts. The parts of Sony VAIO are very specific. As of now I see that the only solution for you is to either contact Sony Service Center or go for an external DVD Drive.
