Question about AEG U3100-4 Electric Double Oven

Open Question

AEG Competence U3100 trips breaker when up to temperature

Our AEG 3100-4 trips the dedicated breaker, immediately when it gets up to temperature. Element was recently replaced when it did it the first time but it still does it. Thermostat doesn't trip breaker when turning on and then turning down to hear the click. Any ideas? Faulty new element, thermostat, breaker, control board?

SOURCE: Main oven problem

I suspect not the oven element at fault. you only way forward is to actually test the resistance of the element to earth with a megga if you can beg the use of one. be cautious about the result as on occasion, elements are only faulty to earth when hot. another way to test if you are cdarefull, is to connect the element to mains independently of the oven and see if the rcd trips

SOURCE: AEG U7101-4 Top Oven tripping the fuse after a few minutes

It is more than likely the oven element, as it gets
hotter the insulation in the element is breaking down and causing the trip to operate..
Remove the panel at the rear of the oven and you will see the element there, undo the screws and pull the element towards you, carefully, detach the 2 wires and remove the element.
Be careful not to lose the 2 wires behind the oven rear.
Replace with new element.
Cannot give you a part number, you will have to go to aeg web site.

SOURCE: AEG Competence Oven not working

If you are certain that the element is o/k, and it is not heating, then thwere are 2 possibilitues.

1- the oven thermostat could be faulty, whereby it is giving a feed to the element.
2-some ovens have a fan only setting, as well as heat and fan, make sure that it is not on a fan only setting.
Hope this helps.

More than likely you have tripped the house circuit breaker or fuse. If you know where the house fuse box or circuit breaker panel is check to see if either one side of the two 240 fuses is blown or one of the two tied together circuit breakers is tripped. If it is a breaker then shut off both breakers completely and then snap them both on completely or they won't reset. It is rare that an oven has a fuse internally. There can be thermal fuses but they will trip when the temperature is out of range.

Went to switch oven on fan works when you turn the temp knob it trips the trip switch every time help

HI, Sounds like your from the UK
If you are referring to a trip switch as being equivalent to an American circuit breaker. (Electrical safety device designed to shut down power to an electrical appliance). Then we are on the same page.
Do the following diagnostic procedure:
1 SHUT DOWN THE POWER SUPPLY TO THE OVEN. I.E. THE TRIP SWITCH/CIRCUIT BREAKER.
2 Open the oven door and look very carefully with a flashlight at the heating element. Look at the the entire element. If it blew (similar to when a light bulb blows) you will
find white powder around the hole in it or it will be completely broken, or have bubbles in it. Some indication like that. If so it has failed and must be replaced. It is probably tripping the switch because it is shorting out somewhere. There is also the possibility that the internal wiring connectors to where the element is mounted into the oven walls is broken off and short circuiting against the oven chassis (walls). That being the case, it may be just a wiring repair in which you install new appropriate electrical contacts and re-connect the element.
Hope this helps,
Happy New Year,
Mark

My caloric over keep tripping my breaker. seem to happen only when it is warm

I suspect it is the oven element causing the problem, as it gets hotter, the insulation resistance is probably breaking down, and causing the trip to operate.

Warming up problem

This has nothing to do with the element. This oven should only be serviced by a qualified technician. If you were one, you would already know the solution. You need to go into diagnostic mode to determine if it is the solid state relay or the cc thermocouple. After resetting the hi-limit more than once, it will also need to be replaced.
