It sounds as though you have turned numbers lock on.

One of the function keys on the top row of the keyboard will, in conjunction with the function key (usually labelled "fn" and located on the left hand side of the keyboard often on the bottom row) will enable toggling between numbers lock on and numbers lock off.

You may have enabled the NumLk (number lock) which changes the right hand keyboard to a number keypad.
The NumLk LED will light up when this is enabled. To switch off the NumLk press the NumLk/ScrLk key near the F11 And F12 function key.

The number lock feature is enabled. You should see an indicator for the Num Lock (lit when on) that is next to the Caps Lock indicator.

You should be able to disable the lock by pressing Fn and Num Lock together on the keyboard. (On some Sony Vaio keyboards, type CTRL+ALT+NumLock or Shift+NumLock.) The number lock should be at the top of the keyboard near the F1-F12 keys. Sometimes the key is shared with the Scroll Lock function (otherwise it will be nearby). It's really easy for the Number lock to be enabled on some Sony keyboards; just some dirt between the keys can enable it when you didn't turn it on intentionally.

I hope this helps.

(I don't have the VGP-WKB1 wireless Sony keyboard and can't find a good picture of it to find the Num Lock key for this model.)

There are three lights on the upper right hand side of the keyboard. I know number lock and caps lock, what is the third light and what keys did i hit that made it go on? How do I turn it off?

The third light on your keyboard is normally the scroll lock, the key to enable/disable this function is the Scroll Lock key which is located above the Home key.

Typing numbers instead of letters

Your keyboard has "extra" keys:
* print-screen / system-request
* scroll-lock
* pause / break
* num lock

Press that "num lock" key.
For a laptop keyboard, you may have to hold down the 'FN' key,
at the same time that you press "num lock", to enable/disable this function.
