Question about Computers & Internet
Hi we plugged our USB into the tv and now when we use on the computer it is saying that the folder is empty. When I looked at the properties it says they files are still there? Thanks
There is a program called get data back that will recover files from a flash drive. Although I cannot tell you what plugging it into the tv did, this is a viable option.

SOURCE: mysteriously dissapearing files
your folder has been secured by a virus. donot format the drive or you will lose the info. look for a data recovery software and run data recovery on that partition of the disk to recover the corrupted files

SOURCE: backup folder shows as empty
Have you tried showing hidden and system files?
In the Windows Explorer, go to the Tools menu and select Options or Folder Options.
In the View tab, scroll in the list and make sure show hidden files is selected. You can also unselect the 'hide system files' option.
That will show you anything on the disk!

Did you try showing "hidden folders and files"?
In the Explorer, select the Tools menu, and pick Folder Options.
Select the View tab and in the list enable "show hidden files and folders".
You can also try showing system files (so choose not to hide them).
That should show you all files and folders on the disk.
Do make sure you are logged in as a user with admin rights.

Don't panic. You're files are probably still on the drive. I had the same thing happen to me as well only it was a WD My Book external. Anyway, like you, I booted up the computer & saw that Vista saw the drive but when I clicked on the drive icon, none of my files were to be found. So I tried turning the drive off & on, plugged it into different USB ports & even rebooted the pc a few times to no avail. The answer? I had recently plugged in a minidisc player/recorder (which the OS sees as another harddrive) & arealized that my motherboard (which is older) would not allow me to access more than 2 hard drives at a time. As soon as I unplugged the md player, my WD external worked fine & all my files showed up again. Hope this works for you as well & good luck.

- Still images: JPEG format or RAW format (preview only)
- Music: MP3 format
- Video: AVCHD, MP4 (AVC) or MPEG1 format (not playable in some cases)
Make sure that you're using the compatible file formats in the USB Drive.
Also check if the USB Drive which you're using is compatible with the TV.
Click here to check the list of compatible devices which Sony recommends,
The accessible file or folder limit in a directory is 1,000 for USB. This limit includes non-supported files or just folders. Files or folders are populated based on their time stamps. Photo, music files or folders exceeding the limit will not be displayed.
Check if the above mentioned criteria meets the requirements.
Thanks for using FixYa.
