How do you replace a belt on a bush hog rdth 84?

Have someone help you rock the tractor back and forth and see if it lets go ,if not jack up rear wheels and rock them back and forth.

sometimes when a belt is wore out it will let the tall grass stop the blades from spinning. put on a new belt and should be good.

pto is on the tractor, not on the bush hog, if it won't engage you have pto problems on tractor, needs to be serviced

The speed of the PTO on every tractor I've owned has been directly related to engine RPM and there has been no other way to change it.
Did your bush hog work with it at one time? If it did, what has changed since then? That might give an indication of a possible fix. It may be that the tractor and bush hog are not compatible.

thermostat or clogged radiator you would see the water pump leaking go to the water pump and try to move the pulley back and forth take the belt off and check for free turning no grinding I'm pretty sure the thermostat's closed but the belt could be slipping to so check the tension on it if its to loose it will slip and not rotate the water pump pulley at the proper rpm's

outdoor power equipment.com website will show you the diagram you must type in your model and brand? most of the time the pulleys get bent and out of alignment then the belt twists off once that happens it impossible to reuse old belt ? just make sure it lines up and the tensioner is working?
