Question about Insignia Televison & Video
Was watching a program and the tv made a slight crackle sound and quit. the green light is on in front & only way to turn it off is unplug it. it is hooked threw cable checked cable on another set its not the problem, modum for internet is working i just have NO picture & NO sound at all, cant even turn it on from set but it will turn on green light threw remote. Its 4 yrs old and is run almost 24/7 and the vents in the rear of the tv were almost letting no air flow in, should I judt dig the grave & purchase another TV or try to fix this one. Before this happened picture and sound both were very good it just crackled and quit. any ideas?

Sounds just like a loose solder connection. The trick is finding it. I would start with the microchips and the large transformer. Otherwise, it could be a capacitor starting to short out. I would give both options a 50-50 chance to be the problem.

SOURCE: dell 32' lcd
I have the exact TV with the same concern. I disassembled my set and removed the sound module to verify part numbers. The cheapest one I could find was on eBoob for over $100.00. My solution was to buy an inexpensive sound bar at Radio Shack and install it. Very simple to connect and it sounds fine. I wouldn't suggest putting money into a low quality TV like the Dell, another board may blow out at any time per several techs I talked to.

If your DVD player supports HDMI or OPTICAL / DIGITAL audio then I would take a look at swapping to those type of connection first. This would help eliminate bad cords / connectors / electrical interference from other sources
Your TV has two hdmi inputs and optical so you have a choice
