Keyboard lock

I do not believe there is. It is dependent on a proximity switch in the display. You should contact lenovo for a factory authorized repair before your warranty expires.

3 of my numbers no longer work. How do I fix this?

First you need to confirm if you are still under warranty and call the Lenovo Consumer Support Hotline at 1-877-453-6686 and ask for the warranty information of your system. If you are lucky and your machine is under warranty then Lenovo will service your machine free of charge. You can also check the warranty of your machine at and enter your serial number.

If you are aware that you are currently out of warranty then there is two option for you:
First, You can have Lenovo repair the keyboard and with that, there will be service charge for replacement.

Second, If you are comfortable on replacing the keyboard on your own, You can contact Lenovo and purchase a keyboard for your Lenovo Y510 on the same number. They will charge you for less than $60 overall.

My lenovo G560 model 0679 keyboard rightside number keys 2 5 8 / etc do not work

Im sorry to hear that, if its really a hardware problem, what you can do is to replaced the whole keyboard since Lenovo do not send out parts for just a particular key on the keyboard. If the system is still under warranty, you can try to contact lenovo and they will process depot for you.

Hope this will help... Your response is very much appreciated...

Number kyes on my lenovo laptop Keapad is not working? Does any one know what could be the problem and what is the root cause of the same?

Hi sachin_jsing,

Most likely the Number Keys on your keyboard has been disabled. For you to enable it kindly press Fn + Esc. The numbers keys should be working after this. If not, your keyboard might be needed to be replaced. If your machine is still under warranty you may contact Lenovo so you can set up repair request with them.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using Fixya.

If your keyboard is not working right there are two suggestions I have to see if the problem is with the keyboard or the computer. If you have access to another computer I would plug it into that and try it out. If it works fine there then you know the issue is with the computer. If it doesn't then you may want to talk to the manufacturer if the computer is under warranty to get a free keyboard. If it's not under warranty you may want to pick up a new key board. They are only about $10 - $15.

If the keyboard seems to work on another computer it is likely an issue with the computer. One possibility could be the keyboard drivers. This is more common on keyboards with buttons alone the top to turn the computer on/off and open Internet Explorer. If this is the case see if you still have the drivers disk that came with the computer and use that to reinstall the drivers for your keyboard.

If you reinstall the drivers and it is still happening the best way to find what is causing the issue is to keep an eye on what you are doing when the keyboard stops working. Is it in Internet Explorer? Is it in Notepad? Is it in Windows Mail? And if it stops working in one of these programs does it work in other programs and just not that specific program? This would indicate that the issue is with that program and not with the keyboard or Windows.

I hope this helps!

The laptop keyboard will need to be replaced. Heat from the laptop will wear out the keyboard. It will get worst. You can go on the IBM website an find out if your laptop is under warranty. If so, you can call them and a certified technician will come out and replace within one or two days. Go to this website: Ray CompuGuy44
