You will for sure need to borrow a remote from someone to do this. But I will give you the way to unlockit just in case you can get one. Philips sets use a four digit code to control the v-chip. The override code for Philip sets is 0711, although it may say "Incorrect code" the first time to trick you. If "Incorrect code" is displayed, simply enter 0711 again. To use it hit the MENU key to get to the menus. Go up or down until you reach AUTOLOCK or SMARTLOCK, depending on the model, and push the "right arrow" key on the remote. Enter the override code, and enter it a second time if it says it is incorrect. Once in the AUTOLOCK or SMARTLOCK menu, go to BLOCK, and push the "right arrow" key. Go to BLOCKING OPTIONS and press the "right arrow" key. Go to MASTER DISABLE and press the "right arrow" key so that it says "MASTER DISABLE ON". The v-chip is now reset. Good Luck

I have the same problem. It isn't the v-chip lock; its the lock that stops the buttons from the front of the tv from working. I, too, have lost the original remote, and we have ironically re-set/lost the code for the universal remote. Magnavox help has said "sorry, if you can't turn your tv on, we can't help" Is there a way to override the child lock with out using the remote? Or a way to turn the tv on with out the remote or the front button? Once my tv is on, then we are golden.

Child Lock issue

Unfortunately the Child Lock facility disables the buttons on the TV.

You should be able to get a replacement remote control from an authorised Philips dealer, or you could try a universal remote control form most electrical retailers. Philips make a range of universal remote controls.

Instructions for activating and de-activating the child lock are in the manual. If you don't have the manual, download it here:

Child lock

I called Philips Magnavox to be sure because i have the same issue. Yes you do have to have the original remote and they do not sell it directly from the manufacturer. I was given a website from the rep that I spoke with so that I could buy the original remote. It is www.andrewselectronics.com and the part number is 996500015582 and the price listed is 47.37.
