the TPSis a part of this system
but you can test it by using diagnoses scan tool to check the TPS value when press or depress the accelerator pad.

SOURCE: 1995 pontiac bonneville 3800 v6

P0321 Spark Reference Circuit. The spark reference signal is used by the PCM to improve ignition timing accuracy during crank and at engine speeds of up to 1,200 RPM. The spark reference circuit allows the use of ignition control mode below 400 RPM, eliminating the need to utilize module mode during start-up, and also allows the PCM to calculate true crankshaft position in 1/6 the time that use of the fuel control reference signal would permit. During normal operation, the PCM uses the spark reference signal to control ignition timing until the engine speed exceeds 1200 RPM, at which time the fuel control reference signal is used. There is no connection to the TCS.
If everything checks ok then the PCM is defective PCM.

SOURCE: Missing, stalling Pontiac Sunfire

The OBD II code for P0400 is Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Malfunction.
I'm sure the only thing you have left is you may have to replace the EGR valve or check for any leak from the vaccum lines going to to EGR valve.

run engine until problem occurs. turn engine off or let it die. leave key on but don't start engine. put a paper clip in diagnostic plug under steering column. look at area on dash where service engine soon flashes. count flashes. (ex. 1flash-1,1 flashes=1,2. if you see 1flash of service engine soon, then 5 flashes in a row the diagnostic check = 1,5. It will flash this several times in a row. this is your code. look it up or ask and find out what it is. this is usually your problem area. let the car tell you.

Check throttle position sensor (TPS) is a sensor used to monitor the position of the throttle. The sensor is usually a potentiometer, and therefore provides a variable resistance dependent upon the position of the valve. The sensor signal is used by the engine control unit (ECU) as an input to its control system. The ignition timing and fuel injection timing (and potentially other parameters) are altered depending upon the position of the throttle, and also depending on the rate of change of that position. For example, in fuel injected engines, in order to avoid stalling, extra fuel may be injected if the throttle is opened rapidly (mimicking the accelerator pump of carburetor systems). the cost about 50-75 bucks.

After it warms up it stumbles and dies especialy when you stop or

Check throttle shaft bushings on throttle position sensor end. If there is a lot of wear on tps end it will make the tps erratic and can cause this. I have seen this on more than one occasion. Hope this helps you!

My 00 pontiac grand prix starts 3 seconds and shuts down

P1122 is a throttle position sensor code. P1629 is a theft deterrent system code. P1122 will set when the voltage signal from the throttle position sensor drops below 0.1 volts. Normally, the sensor should measure between 1 volt at idle and 4 volts at full throttle. A failed throttle position sensor could easily cause your problem.

As for the theft deterrent system code, with that code set, the car shouldn't start at all (if the code is active). With P1629, the engine computer should refuse to deliver fuel to the engine. This code can be stored for up to 40 warm up cycles before clearing itself, so unless it is currently active, there may not be any need to worry about it.

I would inspect the wiring and connectors leading to the throttle position sensor. If that wiring is good, I would replace the sensor and see where that got me. Give that a try and let us know how things go.

1998 3800 v6 firebird... wont run right after starting

Possibly a weak fuel pump, idle air control valve, vacuum leaks, or loose or damaged wiring in the ignition system. Check for vacuum leaks first. That's the only one that won't cost anything. Make sure all intake bolts are tight, and all hoses are connected properly and in good condition.
