You must RUN the utility disk clean up go to local disk c or d: click the properties in the disk, go to the tab took, and execute.
2) in the same place run the check Now
3) Uninstall some program that you are NOT using, for to free Memory and disk space.

Music playback distortion

Have you checked to see how many programs may be running in back ground? They use up resources and can slow a computer down to a crawl if enough of them are running. How about virus software running? That stuff is horrible for computer performance.

I have just purchased an HP Desktop computer and when I burn a Cd for music, everyting seems to work ok but when I try to play that CD on another player in my home, it won't play. Is there a setting...

Check the type of the blank CD/DVD you are using. Certain players won't be able to play CD-RW for instance.

If that doesn't solve the problem you might try to slow down your burn speed for a better quality CD/DVD. Sometimes a faster burn speed will lower the quality and other devices can have trouble reading these.

Two problems: 1. All the CD music I burn do not play in my car's and home stereo. 2. My computer is getting slow in opening programs and files.

are you burning the music cd's in the music format to be converted over and finalize the disk? you cant burn them as mp3s. if your able to fit more then 18 or so songs then you are burning it as an mp3/data disk instead of a music disk. if your computer is getting really slow i recommend you download an anti virus if you haven't already (such as avg FREE) and a spy ware malwayre removal called malwarye bites.

My MIDI won't play back even when I play the file, no matter which program I use to play it. The computer I use is a Compaq Presario, I have Cakewalk Home Studio 2002 on it, and my sound card is SB X-FI...

The default MIDI setting of your PC may have been set for another MIDI device (for example, if Cakewalk Home Studio has been used with a MIDI compatible keyboard). Go to... Control Panel / Sounds and Audio Devices / Audio / MIDI music playback and change the setting back to your soundcard (and set as default if you prefer).

Won't play

In general, if the video isn't playing right, you are missing software to play a certain file type, or missing a codec. Explaining this would take more space than Fixya allows, but i will give you some general hints.

Make sure you have the right software installed.
If the type of file it is trying to play is a Shockwave file, make sure you have the latest version of Adobe Shockwave from Adobe.
If it is a Quicktime video, make sure you have the latest version of Quicktime installed.
FFA Encoder and FLV Decoder are two codecs needed for correct YouTube play in many cases.

I don't know how slow/fast your computer runs, and what it is capable of, but being an A/V guy, I have installed Windows Media Player, Real Aduio, WinAmp, Media Monkey, Adobe Shockwave, Microsoft Silverlight,RealPlayer, and various other music software and codecs - all without slowing down my computer.
