Question about Rowenta Powerglide DM273 Iron

Open Question

Power cord The power cord came loose from the terminal block inside the iron. It's not obvious which terminal it connects to. I contacted Rowenta but they were no help. Can you tell me which terminal to connect the power cord to.

The wire inside the cord is likely torn ant it connects and disconnects as it is moved back and forth. This happened to me too. I just need to find where to get a new cord.

SOURCE: Iron spits out rusty water. The iron is a Rowenta

Fill it with a mix of 50% white vinegar and 50% water. Let it set for 30 minutes and steam it out for about 2 minutes. Unplug it and dump it. After it cools colpletely, fill it with water and steam it out. The rust is coming from your water supply, not the iron.

sounds like a loose connection in the power transfer, some piece of metal may be broken or the cord itself may be damaged in some place, you could try replacing the cord. I would just go and buy a new iron. They aren't all that expensive anymore. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. I hope you solve your problem. If you want any further help or have any other questions, please let me know, otherwise have a Good Day.

Rowenta 1500w bad contacts repairable?

If the thermostate contacts are bad you can clean them with sand paper. You should test the flexibility of of them to allow the work properly under heat. If are the cord connections are bad replace the terminals with ones os the same size or replace the power cord.

Replace chord support sleeve

I think you need to open the back and disconnect the two wires inside. Actually I am looking for that cord sleeve. Where did you find it. I've found a complete assembly for this (Rowenta RS-DX002754)
which is available on line, but all I need is the sleeve.
Good Luck

My Rowenta DX 6100 does not turn on when I plug in, turn dial or move. It is auto on/off.

Chances of causing that not to turn on are: a open defective wire, loose wiring terminal connection, a open heater or the dial switch itself.
Check all of that, you need a continuity tester to do that. If you don't have, ask someone who has knowledge on appliance repair or call a service technician.
Thanks for asking.

MY ROWENTA IRONING CORD GETS HOT

This is probably caused by a connection inside the iron which is arcing. Should be disassembled and all connections inspected for heat damage. Repair connections as appropriate.

Rowenta model dm 860 loose power cord

Most high end appliances (like Rowenta Irons) are made so repairs like that can be done. I haven't played with that model, but I did replace a cord on my Norelco. The torx screwdrivers you are looking for can be purchased, and are often found at either specialty electronic stores (not the average Radio Shack), automotive stores and quite readily online. They are also known as Torx Security bits or Torx Safety bits. Most appliances are made with those screws to prevent the average person from having a go at trying to fix it, but, if you feel comfortable enough with the electronics (even just to look for a loose connection), the bits are available and usually at a fairly decent price.
