The Shoprider Soverign is not really meant to be dismantle for travel. The best you can do is to remove the seat and fold down the handlebars. Also depending on the year it was manufactured there is a pin towards the back of the scooter that connects the front chassis and rear chassis. You must first remove the batteries to gain access to the pin. If you are elderly you might need help. It is heavy.

The two spot painted screws on the side of the throttle are indeed allen key grub screws. These need to be loosened but not taken all the way out as they are very small and easy to lose! I would advise removing as much of the paint as you can prior to loosening these grub screws. Also, be VERY careful not to round off the heads in these screws as its very easily done. When these have been loosened, you can slide the throttle lever downward and off the throttle pot shaft. The flat headed 'screw' you can see is not actually a screw but the bottom of the throttle pot shaft. This will only turn about 45 degrees in each direction and is not meant to be unscrewed. It is for adjusting the throttle back to neautral when the lever is re-fitted. You should be able to take the throttle assembly out from the top inside the plastic housing. Sometimes the three wires that connect the throttle pot are soldered into the wiring loom and sometimes its a plug that connects them. If its a plug, just dis-connect it to remove the throttle pot. If its soldered, I would leave it conected. When the throttle pot is removed, there should be a nut on a threaded part of the throttle pot. Remove it and slide the spring off. Fit a new spring and do the reverse of what I've told you to refit the throttle pot. When fitted, it needs to be set into neautral. You do this by turning the flat 'screw' on the bottom of the throttle pot shaft. It needs to point front to back and is VERY sensative. It should be done with a multimeter and may be best left to your local dealer but it can be done without a meter with a bit of patiance. Make sure the rear wheels are off the ground and just turn the screw very slightly in one direction untill the wheels move. Then turn the screw in the opposite direction untill the wheels stop or start turning in the opposite direction. The key is to find the middle of this setting where the brake has clicked on and the wheels are not rotating in either direction. When you've done this, lock the grub screws on either side of the throttle and you're done! PLEASE make sure you cannot push the scooter manually when the key is switched on as this would mean you're not quite in neutral and the brake is not working, meaning you will not stop very quickly or even not at all! I have a shoprider 888se mobility scooter i have full power,lights work,horn works but when i put key on does nothing except make a high pitch sound.What could be the problem

If the sound changes with the pressure on the throttle your gearbox may have stripped gears. Replacements are not cheap. The motor may have to come off to see if the connection is somehow slipping. Scooter Doctor App

I think the the fuse is under the head light cowling glass type 25 amp fuse. Your throttle, motor wiring, or controller maybe causing this problem.

How to stop a continuing beep on my Cordoba scooter when I turn the key on? The scooter don't move at all.

Hi Mag,
I have this steps that might help you with beeping sound on your Scooter. Hope it helps.

Possible Cause:
  • This often occurs when the scooter is in free wheel mode and is not in drive mode. Re-Engage the free wheel lever which is located down near the rear wheels (normally a yellow or red lever).
  • If you hear a beeping noise, the beeping you hear is a fault beep indicating the scooter main control box has detected a problem. Contact your dealer who can diagnose the beep code.
  • Check batteries with load tester - If either battery drops more than 1 volt under a load, the battery(s) are bad. Replace "both" batteries.

I also find these additional steps on how to know beep alarm indicators:

This main control box has a self-diagnostics feature & cannot be tested with a volt meter. When a
problem is present the main control box will diagnose the fault, prohibit the scooter from being driven
and sound an alert beep. Each alert beep indicates a different issue which helps to determining the
problem by narrowing the fault into one of a few main areas of the scooter. Reference this information
below for the alert beep indications.

Very Rapid beep- Batteries are low. Charge & test batteries.
Medium Fast beep- Motor/brake wiring fault. Free wheel lever disengaged.
Solid beep- The charger is plugged into the scooter (some models may vary).
Very Slow beep- The throttle pot was not at center when you turned the unit on. Throttle pot off
center or wiring (yellow & orange wires) fault.

I installed new batteries and scooter still doesn't run,why?

Check the wiring from the controller to the motor, disconnect the wire ad clean the connections with a contact cleaner or WD40 , and make sure the scooter not in freewheel mode.

I turn rocker switch on with one battery I show full, plug in a different battery, turn on rocker switch get nothing, both batteries show a full charge on charger. I think one battery is 3 years old other...


Check the following:

* Circuit breaker on main control box is tripped
* Fuse blown (check fuse in main control box assembly).
* Incorrect polarity at battery terminals
* Dead batteries.
* Charging cable is still connected to charging receptacle
* One of the cable connections at the main control box is loose.
* Control connection cable disconnected
* Broken key switch
* Throttle stuck fully open
* Throttle control potentiometer broken.
* Speed potentiometer broken
* Battery voltage too low.
* Faulty charging cable.
* Charger not working.
* Charging circuitry in main control box assembly not working

If these check OK, the problem is likely to in the control connection cable or upper control box Verify that the upper control box is getting 24V. (Blue wire on red connector.)

* If the upper control box is not getting 24V, replace control connection cable

* If the upper control box is getting 24V, check key switch operation and verify wiring in the upper control box. Trace voltage from keyswitch on to find where the problem occurs. (Replace upper control box if necessary.)

* Charge batteries with a 12V charger or replace if necessary.

* Ohm test the charging cable - replace if necessary.

* Test scooter with a different charger, if new charger works, replace charger.

* Check wiring in main control box assembly - replace in line relay if necessary
* If batteries, charger, and all wiring is good, replace controller PCB. (Note the model number for the PCB, for example 1208-2330.)

hi, ok, but does the scooter work besides the horn and battery indicator not working ?

If the scooter works okay then the problem is within the tiller control panel , that is the panel on the handlebars, Now it could be a loose wire so carefully take it apart and check to see whether there are any loose wires.

Shoprider delux scooter completly dead but new bateries fitted

check key tubler is not faulty,no connection has been or worked loose,fuses for each battery are not blown press curcuit breaker to reset.get the wiring feed checked from batteries to see you have power by an electrician.
