Hi, I would recommend that we first establish what your USB drive is actually registering as with the computer. Assuming that you're running a Windows operating system - Go into My Computer or "Computer" on Windows Vista, 7, or 8, and then right-click on your USB drive and select Properties. On the General, it should tell you the total capacity of the USB drive. The capacity should have a number displayed in "bytes" which is long - and then a second number which is short - like "4GB" or "8GB". It would help to know what these numbers are.

SOURCE: changing partition on Verbatim 8Gb drive

Hi,

You need to remove ALL partitions, define ONE partition, and then reformat as FAT32 for multiple system compatibility. there's a partition size limit for FAT3.If you hit the limit, then make TWO equal size partitions

SOURCE: My 8GB Sandisk Cruzer Micro

here are a list of fixes for usb drives

click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll down universal serial bus controllers you could see a yellow question / exclamation mark? ! or a red X

you will need to update/reinstall drivers

right click to reinstall drivers

if you can see your usb drive but its not working

ports(com&lpt)right click update driver if this fails to fix the problem
check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red white green black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems for a computer and its parts

click start control panel administrive tools computer management disk management right click on your drive select properties click tools you should see click check now click start two boxes automatically fix files and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors place then a tick in one box then select check now start or you might tick one box then return after its finished the first repair then return and tick the second box
((I have found better results ticking the first box then reurn and tick the second box)) you should not do anything while the chkdsk utility is in progress any input may damage this drive also you might need to do this

click start click to open on my computer you should see your usb drive F: right click select properties there will be an array of options select the sharing tab option then advanced sharing make sure you have a tick in the share this folder box then click permissions make sure you have full control in windows 7

click start control panel user accounts click on the administrators account if you have made one or you will have to create one in windows XP
also
If you are running a Windows XP OS then you might be able to:
click start right click on my computer select open
Right click the icon of your Flash Drive (It should be F: / E: or something)
Click Properties in the menu that comes up
Click the Sharing tab
Click permissions
And finally, click Allow next to Full Control.

Hi experts, my computer indicates there's only 1,14 gb space left on my usb stick but really there's only 8 items on it that don't even add up to 1 gb all together. I want to put a movie on it, (there...

Most movies are about 4.5GB to 8GB, this is probably why your not able to put a movie on it. Secondly a lot of flash drives say its 4GB but really its 3.5-4GB. There must be something your overlooking as file size for ti to take up that much space. go to the properties of each file and look at the folder size, might find something you missed that's taking up more space.

Trying to put 6.56GB movie on my 8GB sandisk cruzer contour, says the file is too large for the destination file

The file system is likely the culprit for this. If you've formatted the USB stick with FAT32, the largest SINGLE file will be about 4GB. You can place as many smaller files as you want to fill the stick completely (in excess of 4GB), but once you approach 4GB for a single file - it will crash.

Format with NTFS instead. No 4GB limit is placed on files in this file system. A nice chart listing the differences between file systems can be found here. The forth row "Max File Size" shows the data you're asking about. NTFS supports 16TB (terrabytes are 1000 times larger than gigabytes) while FAT32 is limited to a "paltry" 4GB. Both FAT32 and NTFS are supported by Windows XP and newer OSes.

I hope this helps - please rate my reply - thanks!

if you have successfully added files that take mem, but dont show on player, DO NOT DELETE THE MUSIC FOLDER, just the music. the player will crash. i think this is hidden on mcs, which is the usb mode you need to be on to trans. try:settings/usb mode, mcs.
