Bios hard rest?

I was updating my bios to the latest version and it bluescreened mid flash, now when I try to turn it on nothing happens. No brief fan motion, no disk noise, no flash of light. Absolutely nothing happens. is there way to hard reset the bios? Keep in mind that any kind of software fix is out of the question, it won't power on.

Press Ctrl Home and the powerbutton at the same time for 10 seconds. If this not works, you need to send it in for repaires. The mb needs to be jigged to reflash the proper bios.

SOURCE: BIOS Crash

ASUS will probably not honor the warranty in this situation. And even though the computer worked for a short time after the mods there is a legit possibility that the mods did cause the computer to eventually fail (and during a BIOS Update.) Sorry man. It looks like you bricked your system from that last BIOS update. Your only chance is to remove the EEPROM from the motherboard and replace it with one that has the correct firmware flashed.

Good luck.

SOURCE: The bios update failed on my 4g asus eeepc

What you need to do is to get the manual for the motherboard os you can reset the BIOS. On the other hand, you may not be able to preform that. This model is like a netbook and try this, remove the battery and the power cord. give it 15min. put the battery back in and reboot the system and than the power cord. that should help. if not, than a tech person is your next step.

SOURCE: asus will open the bios page with F2, but wont boot

I wouldn't quite yet. Here's a solution that should fix this...First, I'm assuming that the BIOS is recognizing the hard drive in the first place? The BIOS should have a utility option to "auto-detect" the hard drive. If it does, then you most likely have a corrupted MBR (Master Boot Record).

Here's my advise: Obtain a DOS-disc (windows 95 installation disc would do just fine) and once at the DOS command line at C: type the following command after the C

C: fixMBR (then hit enter)

this will move the MBR from sector 0 to the next available sector - 1.

Now install the windows installation disk that came with the computer and perform a "repair installation"

It will load all windows sys config files and boot files. It will seem as though you are totally reinstalling windows but you will not.

At first, you follow the simple onscreen prompts to install windows and when you get to the point of entering R for repair...you don't want that yet...continue with install. on the next screen you will see a prompt for a repair installation - this is what you're after. Do not format any partitions and you'll be fine. If you cannot locate a dos disk, here's a link to download one and burn on a CD:

http://majorgeeks.com/Ultimate_Boot_Disk_NT2K_d518.html

Best of luck!

Why will my computer not start anymore?

Hard to diagnose without the machine in front of me. You say you updated this computer with the latest updates...was there by chance a Bios update in the mix? This behavior can be sparked by a failed bios update/successful update with a bad file/turned off mid update.

If there is more than one memory module, try removing them one at a time and testing that way...that will help eliminate ram as a suspect.

My expectation is that your motherboard is shot...either by a failed BIOS update or just unlucky timing of it happening following whatever updates were ran. Once you've eliminated power supply and RAM, its the most likely culprit. Unless you were heavily over clocking CPU's don't generally fail that catastrophically. Hope that helps and Good luck!

Go to the gigabyte website then go to your motherboard page and download and updated to the latest firmware for your bios.

Steps in flashing BIOS
How to Reflash Motherboard BIOS About updating BIOS... The whole BIOS updating procedure should be treated with extreme caution. If you do not encounter any system instability or bugs with the current BIOS version, we suggest that you keep it. If you determine to flash BIOS, you are taking a personal risk of BIOS flash failure. Please contact your supplier or our distributors/resellers for further remedy in case system crashes unfortunately because of BIOS flash failure. Before you begin... 1. Please make sure the BIOS version you want to flash matches your motherboard model. 2. If your BIOS is flash protected, please do not enable BIOS Flash Protection under Advanced CMOS Setup (AMI BIOS) or Advanced BIOS Features (AWARD BIOS) in BIOS menu. 3. Never interrupt when you BIOS is being updated. 4. Because BIOS flashing is potentially risky, if you do not encounter problems using the current version of BIOS, it is recommended that you not flash the BIOS. To flash the BIOS, do it with caution. Inadequate BIOS flashing may result in system malfunction. Three BIOS Flash Utilities... We provide three BIOS flash utilities at our website. Below are the overviews. 1 : flashbios_qflash.gif A BIOS flash utility embedded in Flash ROM. Not all motherboards have the Q-Flash, please use @BIOS or DOS flash utility to update BIOS if your motherboard does not have Q-Flash. Features-- With this utility, you only have to stay in the BIOS menu when you want to update BIOS. No need to enter DOS or O.S. mode. Caution-- Make sure you have a functional floppy disk with the correct BIOS version for your motherboard. UEFI - Download PDF User Guide pdf.gif Download PDF User Guide pdf.gif 2 : flashbios_atbios.gif A Windows-based BIOS live update utility. Features-- @BIOS helps you search for, download, and then update the latest BIOS in Windows operating system. Caution-- Make sure your O.S. environment is stable. UEFI - Download PDF User Guide pdf.gif Download PDF User Guide pdf.gif 3 : DOS Flash utility Features-- The flash utility is a combination of AMI and AWARD BIOS flash utility. You can use it with both AMI and AWARD BIOS. Caution-- Make sure you have a functional DOS boot disk with the correct BIOS version for your motherboard.

Laptop does not turn on after bios update

Try setting the BIOS to default, then rest the settings.

You can try to re-flash the BIOS version just before the latest version.

The Wz number you posted does not match a 655.

Read the manual carefully about how to flash the BIOS.

Look in manual for clearing CMOS, if you have it, clear CMOS, set BIOS to default, and reset, if this does not work, re-flash the next to oldest BIOS version, if you have (example) F23, then flash to F22.

I turn my Acer on and nothing happens. The light

Try this it worked for me

Updating the BIOS will require a USB flash drive to store the BIOS information on during the update. To perform the update to the BIOS:
  1. Go here and download the latest BIOS for the netbook.
  2. Extract the files from the downloaded zipped BIOS file.
  3. In the Dos_Flash folder, rename the BIOS file from 3310.fd to ZG5IA32.FD, in all capital letters.
  4. Copy ZG5IA32.FD and Flashit.exe to the USB flash drive
  5. Ensure that the AC adapter is plugged in.
  6. Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port.
  7. Press and Hold down the Fn and the Esc keys together and press the power button.
  8. When the unit's power light comes on wait a few seconds and release the Fn and Esc keys.
  9. After the keys have been released the power light will start to blink.
  10. During the BIOS update process the display will be blank.
  11. Let the unit run and after approximately 1 to 7 minutes, the unit should reboot and the BIOS will be updated.
If the unit fails to reboot, or the BIOS was not updated sucessfully, try the steps again. If the unit continues to fail to reboot, the unit may need service.
Note: These instructions are only for the Acer Aspire One AOA-110 and the AOA-150 netbook series and should not be performed on any other model Acer Aspire One.

Pc hang up at f2 after bios update

Try downgrading the BIOS to a previous version then load setup defaults. After that update it again with the latest BIOS version. If it does the same thing then the bios package that you downloaded could be corrupt, you may need to download it from a different location.

What is the model of your intel motherboard?

Bios update can resolve lack of fan's control?

Probably not as you can only flash your BIOS from the manufacturer, so that is probably the latest version they produce since you got it recently. Under no conditions do I recommend trying to flash BIOS from someone other than the orignal manufacturer as any mistake will cause your computer to become unbootable.

T60 after Bios Update to Ver. 2.22 no Video

I do not know if this will work
1)open case
2) check motherboard for word which will say reset bios or words to that effect nearby will be a small 2 or 3 pin connector with the 2 pin remove the jumper from 1 pin and fit over both reboot and turn off straight away refit jumper back over 1 pin and reboot see what happen it may work
with 3 pin setup jumper will already be over 2 pin remove and fit over middle and the other pin remove reboot etc
Usually a failed bios update is more often than not fatal
hope this works for you if it does post favorable rating thanks

Went to updae the bios on my computor and now nothing will work

try updating the right software of your bios. Wrong software installation will make your PC crash. When this occurs, try rebooting your PC during start-up then writedown the bios version of the motherboard. Surf the website of the manufacturer and download the latest version of the bios software then install it.
