Question about hotmail.com

Open Question

Why have you dumped my E-mail address?

I have had my user name and password for ages. My daughter used the computer while she was staying with us. Why can't I use my regular E-mail address. This is very annoying as I have to sort out insurance for my car. You can be too security conscious.

  3. Click POP3, and then click Next.
  4. Under User Information, do the following:
    1. In the Your Name box, type your full name the way that you want it to appear to other people.
    2. In the E-mail Address box, type your Member ID (or username), followed by the @ symbol and domain name.
  5. Under Server Information, do the following:

Having Outlook remember your password means that you won't have to type your password each time you access the account; however, it also means that the account is vulnerable to anyone who has access to your computer. Use strong passwords that combine uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. Weak passwords don't mix these elements. Strong password: Y6dh!et5. Weak password: House27. Passwords should be 8 or more characters in length. A pass phrase that uses 14 or more characters is better. For more information, see Help protect your personal information with strong passwords.It is critical that you remember your password. If you forget your password, Microsoft cannot retrieve it. Store the passwords that you write down in a secure place away from the information that they help protect.

  1. To verify that your account is working, click Test Account Settings. If there is missing or incorrect information, such as your password, you will be prompted to supply or correct it. Make sure your computer is connected to the Internet.
  2. Click More Settings.
  3. On the General tab, under Mail Account, type Yahoo! Mail.
  4. Click the Outgoing Server tab, and then select the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication check box.
  5. Click Use same settings as my incoming mail server, and then click OK.
  6. Click Next, and then click Finish.

 Notes

  • Do not select the Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) check box.
  • Unless specified by Yahoo! Mail, all server and address entries are typed in lowercase letters.

There is no problem I want setup an email address for my daughter

If you are wanting an address that is mobile, (meaning, can be checked on any computer), this is fine but if you contact your isp they can sit up one that can be used at home and can be checked online also. she would have her own password and user name.
Just go to yahoo.com, click on "signup" and follow the directions. As a parent I would keep the password around handy.

Hi There, In the US, getting my yahoo email (using Mail program on a MacBookPro) (yes I have yahoo plus) works like a charm. But here in Canada, most of the time, the password gets rejected... what's give?

To set up access to a free Yahoo! Mail account in Mac OS X Mail:

* Install MacFreePOPs and make sure the freepopsd service is running.
* Select Mail | Preferences... from the menu in Mac OS X Mail.
* Go to the Accounts category.
* Click + at the bottom of the Accounts list.
* Type your name under Full Name:.
* Enter your full Yahoo! Mail address (e.g. "example@yahoo.com") under Email Address:.
* Type your Yahoo! Mail password under Password:.
* Make sure Automatically set up account is not checked.
* Click Continue.
* Make sure POP is selected under Account Type:.
* Enter "Yahoo! Mail" under Account Description:.
* Enter "localhost" (without the quotation marks) under Incoming Mail Server:.
o If you run into problems using "localhost", try "127.0.0.1".
* Type your full Yahoo! Mail address ("example@yahoo.com", for example) under User Name:.
o Mac OS X Mail probably has already entered your user name, and it's enough to append "@yahoo.com" to complete the address.
* Click Continue.
* Click Continue again, ignoring the error. We'll take care of that in a bit.
* Make sure Password is selected under Authentication:.
* Leave Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) unchecked.
* Click Continue.
* Select an existing mail server to send mail under Outgoing Mail Server:.
o You cannot send mail through MacFreePOPs. If you have no outgoing mail server through your ISP, you can use a Gmail or AIM Mail account's.
* Click Continue.
* Now click Create.
* Highlight the Yahoo! Mail account in the Accounts list.
* Go to the Advanced tab.
* Enter "2000" (not including the quotation marks) under Port:.
* Close the Accounts window.
* Click Save.

Pop email settings with godaddy domain

I FINALLY GOT THE ANSWER! I ALSO HAVE A GODADDY EMAIL ADDRESS AND USE A HTC TOUCH PHONE FROM SPRINT. I've entered the following settings and my email now works like a charm! This is for a POP3 email address, not an IMAP email address.

You cannot send the email unless you have a sprint email address. Email must go through the Sprint server in order to be sent (incoming mail does not).

Call Sprint Tier II (877.345.7895) and ask them to set you up with a User Name and Password for the outgoing mail server. All the rest of the settings are as follows:

EMAIL SET UP Email Address: You@YourGoDaddyDomain.com Your Password: the password you use to access your go daddy account Check SAVE PASSWORD Click NEXT UNCLICK TRY TO GET EMAIL SETTINGS AUTOMATICALLY FROM THE INTERNET. Click NEXT. Your Email Provider: Internet Email Click Next Your Name: Dales Wife Account Display Name: 'GoDaddy Email" or whatever you'd like to call it so you can identify this account (you can have several email accounts sent to your phone). Click NEXT Incoming Mail Server: pop.secureserver.net Account Type: POP3 Click NEXT User Name: Again enter You@YourGoDaddyDomain.com Password: Enter your password again Check SAVE PASSWORD Outgoing (SMTP) Mail Server: smtp.sprintpcs.com CHECK Outgoing server requires authentication UNCHECK Use the same user name and password for sending email Advanced Server Settings: DO NOT Check: Require SSL for Incoming e-mail DO NOT Check: Require SSL for Outgoing e-mail Click DONE to return to previous screen Click NEXT Outgoing Server Login: TheNameGivenToYou@sprintpcs.com Password: When you call Sprint Tier II they will ask you what password you'd like. Check Save Password. Automatic Send/Receive: I use every 5 minutes and it doesn't seem to run my battery down. Click FINISH. This has been driving me crazy for two months now so I really hope this information helps somebody else out. Best of luck! NOW, if anyone knows how to remove those annoying envelopes when I access my mail - I could use the help. There are three envelopes there (one for GoDaddy mail, one for Outlook and one for Picture Mail.) I do not use Outlook or Picture Mail and would love it if I could remove those.
