That is probably the back light inverter that is going bad. They are hard to find right now but there are a few: http://www.shopjimmy.com/lg-6632l-0520a-backlight-inverter.htm your set uses 2. I would replace them both.

I have a television that did this. The picture went out but it continued to have sound. It was the projector bulb. I ordered from a dealer on ebay, very resonably priced. It came with instructions on how to install it and was a very easy fix.

Sounds like a bad inverter board. Your model TV should use board 6632L-0154D & 6632L-0153D . You will want to open up the TV and compare the part numbers. Always order your boards by part number. The inverter boards control the backlight. If you put a flash light on the back of the set you should be able to see a liitle bit of the picture.

There are only two boards. Master - 6632L-0470A REV 1.3 and Slave - 6632L-0471A Rev 1.3

There are two likely options: either one of the backlight inverters has burned or the power supply has a puffed cap and doesn't provide voltage for the inverters.

The simplest way to tell is to use a voltmeter and find if power provides 24V to inverters. It's easy to see where, there are at least 5 wires for ground and another 5 for the 24V line, so it's a no brainer to find them,

If there is 24V on the inverter then either the master or the slave is burned.

Chances are good you may be able to find which one by testing the fuses on them.

Finally, the master backlight board is 6632L-0346A and the slave is 6632L-0347A.

I wouldn't unless you're sure they match the particular model. Each of them are different depending on size of set. This can be verified by seial number version(ya1b, ya3b, c and so on). If you were to try this you might fry the backlight, requiring a replacement panel. They supply different voltages........Please be careful, can be lethal, 1000vdc or more........Good success, Meder's Tv

It can be backlight inverter boards or bad power supply. Look at the power supply first for bad capacitors, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague
