SOURCE: Panasonic 1080p Plasma TH-42PZ80U Home Theater Setup Question

Hey Gamer1827,

While I personally can't provide you with any model-specific home theater system recommendations, there are a couple of common ways that you can generally configure your home theater.

Connecting several devices directly to the HTIB system may typically allow you to minimize the number of remote controls necessary, as long as the HTIB system supports the use of a universal remote. Should you not necessarily care if you have to change back-and-forth between two remotes however, you may have a wider variety of possible configurations available.

In order to use only HDMI cable connections to set up your home theater, you most likely would need an HTIB system with three HDMI ports: one for your TV, one for your PS3 and one for your cable box. Each device would require a separate HDMI cable running between it and the receiver. This option (in theory) would allow you to use one universal remote to control each device, assuming that they are all compatible with the same remote.

Another common configuration you might wish to try requires you to connect your cable box and PS3 directly to your TV. By doing so however, you might limit yourself to using an optical digital audio cable to make the connection between your TV and many HTIB systems. In this configuration, the cable box and PS3 would again have their own separate HDMI cables, while the optical digital audio cable would need to be run from the Digital Audio-Out port on the back of your TV to the Digital Audio-In port on the receiver. This option essentially treats the HTIB system as an expansion device, instead of the center of your home theater configuration.

Should you need any additional information or suggestions, remember that you may always speak with a sales representative at your local Best Buy™ store for further assistance.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron

simplist solution, if the TV has an audio output just run that to the Bose system.

SOURCE: No Signals

You may have to access the initial setup menu to force the set to look at the cable input. Although that is typically the default today, it may be looking for signals from an antenna. Broadcast and cable use different frequency ranges so the set has to be able to see the range you are trying to watch.

I have an 15" Curtis tv model number is LCD 1575! do I need a converter box? If not how can I make it work there is no picture or sound ??

A converter box for what precisely? And how long have you had this tv? No picture or sound may be a broken TV. It could also be that you have the wrong input source selected. What are some other odd symptoms, other that no picture or sound. What exactly are you trying to do?

Have a curtis tv , trying to run autoscan, it runs, but it doesn't locate any channels. I have a comcast converter box also. Not sure why autoscan isn't working. Or do I have to set up my comcast...

For the auto scan to detect there must be channels present on the CABLE that is connected to the RF input- TUNER INPUT- of the TV.
So check with your cable operator for the channels and you can connect. however if you are using a digital box then the channels are memorised on the box as only the output of the box is connect to the video/audiop inputs of the TV. if so select line in/video 1/2.

I have picture but no sound. We just had our surround sound system go out and are trying to run our tv on it's own internal speaker system. How do you hook it to our direct tv hd box

Hi.

You need to use audio cables. Connect two red and white audio cables from the output on the HD box to the relative input at the back of TV (nr.4 in picture below). The best way to connect the HD box is by using component cables, that are the red-green and blue trio of cables, plus a white and red audio cables.

Here what you need:

Three plus two:
Component Video Cable
Audio Red / White Cable

or single set of five:
Cables Unlimited - Video / audio cable

Once you have the five cables, connect them to the output at the back of the Direct TV box, and then connect the other end of the cable to either group of connectors 6, or to one of the columns in connector 7. Do connection with box and TV power off. After re-applying power use the source-input selector on remote to select the source from Direct TV box.

I just hooked up my Curtis lcd2425a tv and get no picture or sound. Just a white screen.

It might be the cable not the tv... Try hooking up an xbox or ps3... If the picture comes up on that then have someone come over to your house to fix the cable... If it doesn't work then send in your tv for a new one... Best if luck

Cant see wii picture, it is connected through my vcr

You don't say how what the VCR make/model or your TV and its capabilities. The video pass-through of your VCR would be described in its manual. I'd skip past the VCR if it was my Wii.

Here are the relevant manuals for what we know...

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Nintendo-Wii-Gaming-Consoles-manual/id/765ag008/t/2/

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Curtis-DVD6041-Home-Theater-Systems-manual/id/2869ci160/t/2/

The Curtis doesn't haved a composite video in so I thin the solution would be to run theWii Video to the TV's Composite Video In (usually just marjed "video"), and the Wii Audio to the Curtis Aux In 1 or 2. Obviously, one of these connection will require the cable t obe extended to reach two different destinations.

Page 8 in the Wii manual shows the AV cable. It requires a composite video input (the Yellow tip).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Composite_video

Page 12 shows its connection to any standard AV device. That would be the TV or the VCR for Video, as the Curtis apparently doesn't have a composite video input, and the audio could go to the Curtis, the TV, or both using a couple Y-adapter to share the audio. That way you could use the Wii with the TV only or with the audio from the Curtis.

Or you could just run the supplied Wii Audio to the Curtis and get a single RCA cable extender with a Female on one end and a Male on the other to reach the Video to the TV or VCR.

The following is 12' long, for example...

I hvae just purchased a Samsung HXT 30 sound system and connected it to the tv anbd sky hd box how do I get sound from the tv it would appear it is a problem what cables do I need I have aq HDMI from the...

You need to run a cable from your Sky (satellite box) box's 'Audio Out' jacks to the sound system's 'Audio in' jacks. Make sure the Sound system is set on the same function as where you plugged in the cables (RCA type, red & white) on the back of the sound system. (example: if you used the 'Auxilliary' jacks, set the sound system on 'Aux')

If it's sound 'from' the TV as well as the sound system you'll need to connect another set (of red & white RCA) cables from the Sound System's 'Audio Out' jacks to the Television's 'Audio In' jacks. This should give you sound from both the TV's speakers and the Sound System. Good Luck!

Audi but no picture when cable box conected through DAV-X1

It won't work as the DAv can only output to HDMI by bringing singal into the HDMI input.

why wouldn't you send it directly to the TV and Audio to the DAV? I sounds like you don't have an HD box anyway (otherwise why would you use an analogue S-video cable vs component or HDMI). Unless there is a distance issue then go to the TV.
