QPS Que! SuperDrive DVD-RW Burner

Can anyone get ahold of QPS support?

By 2Pansy - usenet poster

I have been tying to get ahold of QPS tech support for several weeks now
and all I get is hours on hold and no response via e-mail.  Has anyone
had success contacting QPS and if you have how did you get ahold of them?

If anyone is thinking of buying one of their drives, don't do it.

must be a weird mech.//my QPS 8x4x32 ..sw208B. still works great in
10.2.1 and it's fully supported. Now Why would the QPS 12x8x40 not
be?..considering it's a more recent model? Musta been a slow seller???
and Apple ain't gonna bother. This does sound like Apple did
something...didn't do something but then again QPS is in Chapter 11.

Drivers have to be rather specialized beasts _unless_ the the devices they
support are MMC compliant.

I gave up after about two weeks, spending lunchtimes on hold waiting
for someone in customer service or tech support to pick up...

And this after waiting nearly 6 months for them to ship a DVD+RW
drive that they'd been advertising since the beginning of the year.

It doesn't work reliably, btw.

Fortunately, MacWarehouse is accepting the drive back and swapping
for one from another manufacturer. I hope LaCie does a better job
of building and support.

Certainly not now.

I have a FireWire Que!Fire 16x10x40, and it still works fine.

Suuuuure. (Not doubting your recollection, mind.)

With what? They haven't responded to email or voicemail or
by phone since about the 20th. They're in Chapter 11 (filed
for it the day after I finally got the drive I'd ordered months
earlier).

Check the iTunes compatability list for supported CD-RW drives,
and see what sort of deals you can get on supported ATAPI drives.

They're easy to install, and if the mechanism is on the list,
should run fine without digging around for drivers.

...in Chapter 11? I think that's right. However, even when Syquest was
on the verge of death they still had ways of getting there products
fixed. Syquest invented and had a lot of engineering expertise.. QPS
doesn't sound like a very good company. I have one of their CD-RW and it
has worked fine in many differen situations but I've never been able to
find enough support info on their w-site and I too have tried to contact
them via email and they NEVER reply. Bad form. Companies that don,t
reply to customer emails, and have no web support..shouldn't be in
business! Now with that said, one of the worst offenders is Linksys.
Almost no tech support. ...and when someone does get back they
usually.....no no...they -always- seem to know next to NOTHING about the
products they're paid to support! Yet... I buy Linksys products because
they work so well right of the box, being so well designed and
reliable... and the price is always competitive. QPS doesn't manufactor
anything really..don't they configure other peoples hardware....?..oh,
maybe they do design the enclosurers? So they know little to nothing
about the products they assemble. They just work. When they don't...too bad.

Steve,

FWIW: I have been buying LaCie drives for more than a decade. I have always been
happy with their products and their support. I hope your experience is similar.

In article <mvJl9.1660$Sm1.130 @newsread2.prod.itd.earthlink.net>,

I have one of their older CD burner QPS Que! (12x8x40)...After loading
Mac OS 10.2.1 I was unable to use the burner.  I contacted QPS and they
did respond after two days.  However, what they told me did not help.
The tech from QPS went on about how Apple is at fault for the problem
and QPS was waiting for Apple to fix it.  My gut tells me that this is
not going to be resolved anytime soon.  It would not suprise me if QPS
sues...I guess I will be in the market for a new burner.

Can anyone suggest a good internal burner for a G3 B/W?  If so, who is
the best reseller (not just the best price, but fast and trustworthy
service)?

I recently trashed one of their drives. After spending months trying to
contact them, I finally got through and found out that a repair would cost
as much as a new drive. So I bought a new drive -- from someone else.
